Manchester City Release Patrick Vieira

The Premier League has published a list of players who are out of contract and no longer have a club - Manchester City midfielder, Patrick Vieira is on the list.

The former France international, who celebrates his 35th birthday on Tuesday 23rd June joined City from Inter Milan initially on a six-month contract during the 2009/10 January transfer window, however that was soon extended by another year.

Vieira's last game in a City shirt was during the FA Cup final win over Stoke when he came on as a late substitute.

Patrick Vieira is expected to see out his remaining days as a professional footballer in the MLS.

The Premier League free transfer list can be found here.

We wish Patrick all the best.

Well, I'll be the first to admit I thought he was a terrible signing...one last pay day for an old mate of Mancini's and all that...BUT he proved me wrong by weighing in with a fair few goals and apparently his off-field experience and influence was greatly appreciated by all his younger team mates. No doubt he'll end up back at the Emirates when he's ready.

I hope he comes back as a coach and would have liked him to stay - but his wages were reported to have been very high and we are cutting the wage bill massively this summer so it had to be.

That list was issued without the knowledge that talks are still ongoing with Paddy's representatives.
