You guys often boast of Mancini's brilliance with defenders so surely this is a good signing, well minus the wages he's being given. How many natural LB's have you got? A very slow Kolarov who can't handle any average winger with the tiniest bit of speed, don't get me wrong he's a decent LB it's just a major flaw in his game.

He won't be on those wages and there's no way on Earth we would pay £19M for a player on his last year of a contract. Those days are gone... Rumour has it it's £7M and it provides competition at LB. As for TheFamousNo7, you can count of two, maybe three fingers the number of decent left backs that can handle pace in the PL...

£110,000 a week doubt it very much it’s just Newspaper rumors every player we sign seem to be on £110,000 a week according to the media.

£19m!? Since when? I also thought it was £7m, have I missed something? Clichy is a decent leftback but nothing more. He's average going forward and average at defending. But he does have good pace, something Kolarov lacks. Hopefully the competition will cause both to progress and they can then be deployed in different games that suit their playing styles, for example, when playing against pacey wingers use Clichy.

Most newspapers I've read said not 110k, but 90k. And the price is 7m, not 19m. :D

19m???ffs, no way on gods earth is he, or are we,going to pay that..... he is worth 7-9 million tops, and as for wages no more than 60thousand.....any more and we have been ripped off...... but then again we could always sign Bebo for £10....AND STILL FEEL RIPPED OFF.....

And just when I started thinking this site generally had good material. This is utter garbage. £19m? Not likely in the slightest. It's over double what has been stated in nearly every sports column. Total guff if you ask me.

avfcwills10 - We've already walked away from transfers this year allegedly, as clubs are adding the City premium to the figures. So no way on Earth would the Arse have the cheek to ask for this, or we have the stupidity to pay it. nordkap - Love it when the FA cup becomes a mickey mouse trophy, just cos ickle citeh win it. If it's so maligned, why did the rags put out there strongest team in te semi and still get bent over? Rumour has it we've only bid for two players, Sanchez and Neymar, Sanchez didn't want to play for the rags either, only Barca and the rags can't afford Neymar... Back in your box son...

Goodness me. Some rare old stick being dished out to the club that no top players would sign for/ side of mercenaries and individuals that will never play as a team FA Cup winning Champions Leaguers. Oh yes and David Silva is a flop.

StuMCFC - It's not just the media pundits, but a lot of PL players had never heard of Yaya either, including Vidic. That was until he ghosted past him, thus allowing Vidic to read the name on the back of his shirt, before coolly slotting it through VDS's legs... ;)

Now, now folks - Nerdkrap has a point - I mean look at the team he supports (from sunny Norway) - they've stolen a march on the ENTIRE premier league and bought in the VERY toppest notch players and established world superstars going, like Phil Jones, Young and DeGea, and all for around the £50m mark. You add that lot to the majestic Bebe and even Barca will be quaking in their boots, mark my words.

Lol cheers for taking such a liability off our hands. The boy can't defend or cross. Doesn't have a clue what holding a line is. Abu Dhabi FC could do a lot better than Clichy with the money you lot are willing to spunk about. El Citeh seem to have genuine desires to become a real force in Europe, if you want to do that don't buy second rate left backs.

Good player, but if you're looking for a solid defence Clichy isn't the right choice. All Gooners know Clichy hasn't been the same since the 2007/08 season, and even then he made quite a few mistakes. These days it's less of the quality attacking play, fewer interceptions and A LOT of errors. So honestly, cheers.

Good riddance. One of the most frustrating players I have ever seen in my many years watching Arsenal. His only assett is speed. Can't score to save his life and spends more time running away from defenders, when he should just stand his ground. Arsenal shipped a lot of goals from the left because of him. I wonder when City will learn to stop signing our players? they haven't learnt from the last 2. Hey, we've got an amazing right back from Ivory Coast who can also play on the wing? 30 million?

whats that saying ''a change is as good as a rest'' Maybe just Maybe, Clichy was becoming stale at The Arse, and needs a change, just to A, win trophies, B, feel wanted, C, sick of Wenger and the Abuse the Arse fans dish out every time they either Lose or Draw, and implode each and every April.....AND Mancini may just bring the BEST out of him......

We accept your "good riddance" congratulations because as mentioned Mancini gets the best out of defenders. Richards was a walking disaster before Mancini got his hands on him, how he is England's best right-back despite the puzzling preference for G. Johnson over him.
