Villa Favourites To Land Shay Given

Just about every news source reports that Manchester City's number two shot-stopper, Shay Given is on the verge of joining Premier League rivals Aston Villa. And so with this in mind I guess it's just a matter of time before the deals goes through.

A transfer fee of around £3.5 million for the 35-year-old seems a realistic figure and if you believe what you read then it appears representatives from both City and Villa will rubber-stamp the transfer early next week.

I for one don't want Shay to leave but on the other hand he's too good to be left week in week out sat on the bench. In addition, with Joe Hart at the helm City are certainly going to be left in safe hands.

Much as we'd all love him to stay, Seamus is far too good to sit on the bench most of the time. Unluckily for him, Joe Hart looks to be developing into one of the games finest, so Seamus at this stage of his career needs to move on. We'll all wish him well, and it's nice to see he's found a big club that want him. Good luck Seamus, don't forget to let in a bagful when you play us!

Great signing for the Villa if he can stay injury free. Wonder if he will take a salary cut???

I can only echo what FCB has said and wish Shay all the best at Villa.

Good keeper, great guy but he does have his shortcomings particularly with crosses and that is why City would be prepared to let him leave.

Will be sorry to see him go ...but he is (as 5th says) too good to be sat on the bench ....Good luck Seamus ....don't try too hard when we play you...
