We Offer The Evidence:Is Balotelli Misunderstood?

VIDEO: The main talking point from Manchester City's draw with LA Galaxy last night was the way the 20-year-old Italian attempted to back-heel the ball into the net and then his subsequent tantrum.

A lot has been said regarding Mario Balotelli but just for once I am going to let you do the talking. In the first instance this is what the City striker did to cause all this attention.

Who cares whether he was showboating, heard a whistle from the crowd and thought he was offside or whatever? All that matters is that the entire world is talking about Manchester City again, and despite the negative slant in most of the press, I doubt very much whether anyone will give a fig about his actions. What is important is that with one back heel of the ball, Mario not only allowed City to completely overshadow the rag's tour of the US, he made global headlines. You can't put a price on that kind of free publicity!

Very unfair on Mario. He heard a whistle - so did I.... To make a big deal about this is not necessary

We should make a poll for this one - on the extended highlights on MCFC.co.uk you can hear the whistle....Can you hear it? Yes/No

If it hadn't been for Mario we would never have seen Joe take that penalty and the subsequent celebration.

Deadly serious mate, if not an apology the an admittance of over-reaction. He killed the game as a spectacle by putting Milner on. I don't want Milner anywhere near a City shirt, I've only ever seen him an impact once, he's dull and predictable like Barry. Back to Ballotelli, I think Mancio could have called him over for a public dressing down and b*****s to the L.A crowd and press. He's unwittingly made a mountain out of a molehill. I'm more concerned about Dzekos goal-less tour.

Actually that's very unfair on Gareth Barry, I was on a roll! Sorry GB.

For someone who is apparently a potential World beater it was a pretty appallng backheel. Did it go out for a throw in? Milner, like Barry, a good player.

Kenny, the ball went exactly where he meant it to go. It's obvious to me that he stopped playing because he heard a whistle. I think Mancini made a gaff pulling him off, but if he apologises, he must do it privately. He is the boss and cannot admit to mistakes.

Can't agree on your Milner comment KCT. He's free to prove me wrong though doubt he could! Would never voice this opinion at the game though, don't boo the shirt. I'll be the first to hold my hands up if he (hopefully) has a great season.

In the position Mario was in even if he heard (or thought he heard) a whistle he should have put the ball away. In a football game with crowds the way they are at friendlies there is always the chance that the ref did not blow.

I agree with what RobsonGreensleeves said. Roberto should be a man and apologise. He'll get a lot more respect from Mario if he does. And can I just say that I think Mario is bloody marvellous! I thank you.

Maybe Dzeko and De Jong should apologise too and whichever other players reacted angrily to Mario. For the record I think Mario is fabulous too.

Sorry, meant to say bloody marvellous but fabulous works just as well. As for Mario respecting Mancini, he should do anyway he's his manager and I believe he does given the complimentary things Mario has been quoted in the press saying about Mancini.
