To infinity and beyond, Premier League new boys Swansea are a fortnight away from taking their top flight bow at the Etihad Stadium and according to our South Welsh sources, the mood at the Liberty Stadium is swinging daily from bricking it to unqualified excitement.

The Swans' astute boss Brendan Rodgers has told the South Wales Evening Post in glowing terms how he perceives the challenge his team face in East Manchester:

'Manchester City are at a level now where they are competing at the cutting edge of the game - They are a superpower in European football.'

The clearly well knowledged Northern Irishman continued...

'...They are in the market for all the top players in the world and Sergio Aguero is certainly one of them...it's frightening when you look at the talent they have got
...they are at the top end of the game and they have world class players throughout the group.'

It's hard to believe that the two clubs were merely a handful of places apart across the third and fourth tiers of English football back in December 1998.
