'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Chelsea Manager Slams City Spending

In a bizarre and if anything embarrassing development in the context of Chelsea's recent history, their latest manager Andre Villas-Boas has allegedly complained about City...

...and it's the Manchester club's signing of top players that appears to have upset the London club's eighth manager in seven years. Following The Citizens capture of the brilliant Sergio Aguero following the two other summer signings of Gale Clichy and Stefan Savic, Villas-Boas said:

'I think it's unfair - I think it's pretty clear that they are building a squad to fight for the title. It's for Mancini to say what his objectives are but my personal perspective is that they are making good signings and that they can threaten for the league...I think Man United as the title holders will be a reference for everybody but you can see the amount of activity Manchester City have had in the market. It's pretty clear they have a title objective as well.'

Well, that is sort of the general idea at the Etihad Stadium, so despite Villas-Boas ignorance of what has come to pass before him at Stamford Bridge under it's oligarch, he's not far off the mark with City's title ambitions!

Does anyone have a link to the video? I've seen the tactic I'm suspicious of used with City a hundred times - the scummy media taking an ironic or tongue-in-cheek comment and turning it into something vicious.

AVB is not Mourinho. He would never say such a thing, he's as respectful as Carlo, a class guy. And, by the way, there's nothing negative in this statement. "I think it's unfair" it's so ******** obvious he was talking about something else. Could we see the whole video? English media are the best at twisting someone's statements and turn it into a provocation. Remember 1 week ago when Terry said that talking about Modric was disrespectful towards Spurs because he wasn't our player? Sky Sports reported it as "Terry said Modric was disrespectful towards Spurs because he sent a transfer request to Levy". What a ******** disgrace these media are, really.

I don't think he actually said or meant it that way. Manchester City are always going to be contenders no doubt about that. If claims of 'media twisting' are not acceptable enough, then remember that he is not English (no matter how English-like he looks!) he just might be having problems with the language. Just saying.

Blezbluez, SMOKIEJACK,? Sorry ladzzzzz but never heard of you - if the regular posters like Merlin come on and slate us for our articles then I might start to worry, but until then it's all water off a duck's back. Can't disagree that the press are an utter effing disgrace though, and I've seen various twists on this article, so it looks like the liars can't even agree on the lie!

Football journalists need lining up and shooting, same for the editors. Since I moved to Taiwan I am relieved i do not get their bile forced on me every day by the likes of Oliver Holt, I guess he is still a trumped up, bitter little muppet with his own agenda. He is a particularly opinionated rat. The papers should give objective articles that allow people to make their own decisions. Highly subjective twisting and sniping is pure propanganda and numpties like Holt should be made accountable for the crap they spout. If I ever saw him in the street he'd get smacked out and I'd be sure to let him know why before I bang him
