Chelsea Manager Slams City Spending

Chelsea Manager Slams City Spending

In a bizarre and if anything embarrassing development in the context of Chelsea's recent history, their latest manager Andre Villas-Boas has allegedly complained about City...

...and it's the Manchester club's signing of top players that appears to have upset the London club's eighth manager in seven years. Following The Citizens capture of the brilliant Sergio Aguero following the two other summer signings of Gale Clichy and Stefan Savic, Villas-Boas said:

'I think it's unfair - I think it's pretty clear that they are building a squad to fight for the title. It's for Mancini to say what his objectives are but my personal perspective is that they are making good signings and that they can threaten for the league...I think Man United as the title holders will be a reference for everybody but you can see the amount of activity Manchester City have had in the market. It's pretty clear they have a title objective as well.'

Well, that is sort of the general idea at the Etihad Stadium, so despite Villas-Boas ignorance of what has come to pass before him at Stamford Bridge under it's oligarch, he's not far off the mark with City's title ambitions!

Does anyone have a link to the video? I've seen the tactic I'm suspicious of used with City a hundred times - the scummy media taking an ironic or tongue-in-cheek comment and turning it into something vicious.
29/07/2011 15:39:00
AVB is not Mourinho. He would never say such a thing, he's as respectful as Carlo, a class guy. And, by the way, there's nothing negative in this statement. "I think it's unfair" it's so ******** obvious he was talking about something else. Could we see the whole video? English media are the best at twisting someone's statements and turn it into a provocation. Remember 1 week ago when Terry said that talking about Modric was disrespectful towards Spurs because he wasn't our player? Sky Sports reported it as "Terry said Modric was disrespectful towards Spurs because he sent a transfer request to Levy". What a ******** disgrace these media are, really.

Where does he slam city spending? Can't see any negative aspersions towards what City are doing in the article...
29/07/2011 16:01:00
Lol,what is wrong with that statement???where in it did he slam City???if anything he was complimenting City's ambition...Get over yourselves!
29/07/2011 16:01:00
I don't think he actually said or meant it that way. Manchester City are always going to be contenders no doubt about that. If claims of 'media twisting' are not acceptable enough, then remember that he is not English (no matter how English-like he looks!) he just might be having problems with the language. Just saying.
29/07/2011 16:09:00
BTW,nothing wrong with attention seeking articles such as this...problem is,it exposes your level of comprehension(or lack of it)...Have fun buddies!
29/07/2011 16:11:00
LOL & buddies blezbluez? you've gotta be having a laugh! what year is it?
29/07/2011 16:17:00
ps, do the press just twist and lie now with no consequence? there's absolutely nothing in this I can see.
29/07/2011 16:19:00
@Rob,i'm sure having a laugh, sorry BUDDY,the joke is on you.
