'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Paddy Vieira Praises Mancio's Winning Mentality

Manchester City Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira has underlined his belief in Roberto Mancini, the man who fused a squad capable of winning honours...

There's a an anti-City brigade straw clutching rule of thought knocking about that says it's time for Roberto Mancini to deliver under massive pressure whereas the vast majority of Blues are heading into the new season feeling released from decades of angst.

Mancini of course already has delivered inside 17 months of his leadership against almighty odds and intense scrutiny. So what's different for him this season then?

World Cup winner Vieira knows his onions and certainly believes in the City gaffer. He told the Daily rag Mirror:

'I don't think pressure is something that Mancini worries about because he has worked under pressure all his life. Nobody will put Roberto under more pressure than he does himself. He doesn't just want to win, he expects to win. That is his mentality.

'...What I respect most about Mancini is that he isn't afraid to make the big decisions. Remember last summer when he allowed Craig Bellamy to join Cardiff even though he knew this was a player the fans loved? - This time he is having to manage a difficult situation with Carlos Tevez. But having to take these big decisions will not worry him...Mancini is someone who is brave enough to make a decision and move on.'

Echoing the sentiment of growing belief that is swirling around Manchester, Paddy concluded:

'He was happy to win the FA Cup for City, but he will want that to be the start. Mancini didn't come to England just to win the Cup. He came here to win the league. He wants to win the Champions League for Manchester City.'
