Spurs In The Mix For Adebayor And Johnson?

Cheeky cockernee chappy Sir Harold Redknapp is about to make his considerable presence felt in the summer transfer market and MCFC are in his thoughts...

At the outset, a bit of advertising. It might be worth Spurs going in for Craig Bellamy should Robbie Keane's proposed departure to the United States go through. Not much to choose between them age wise and medical cabinet model Roque Santa Cruz also always looks good in a white shirt.

In the meantime, talks continue over the potentially explosive return of Emmanuel Adebayor to Norf Laarndaarn which could see a fair few Arsenal supporters going mental again. Spurs are allegedly happy to take the hatstand 27 year old City striker but are not at all happy with his wages. That's the stumbling block stopping the deal going through apparantly.

Of course, these cagey transfer stalemates that we are all getting more and more used to pre new finanical regulations are always open to rumour, subterfuge and intrigue.

The latest of which is that Harry has suggested that Spurs would like to swap England internationals Aaron Lennon and Adam Johnson with City. What's all that about then?

Johnson for his part told the dreadful Sun this week:

'I know the manager has said he wants another winger. But with the players we've got here, most of us know we won't play every single game. That's just part of being at a massive club like this. Two players for every position is good...When you get linked with other teams you start to wonder if you are in their plans. But it's brilliant Mancini said I am...he's definitely brought me on as a player.'

As the clock ticks down to September, we can expect some transfer fireworks brinksmanship goes to the wire.

In the meantime, what are your thoughts on Adebayor to Spurs and 'Arry's rumoured spendthriftery? Give us a shout...

Would definitely take Adebayor from you as see him as better than allof our current strikers put together! would also like Johnson too but dont want to lose Lennon as both are quality players and add something different. Doubt we will get either though as we are v reluctant to pay top wages (or cant afford to)

no problem with Adebayor going IF Spuds pay the money and transfer, his wages is your problem, not ours, and if spuds want him on loan, pay his FULL wages, why should we pay 100,000 of the?co 'Arry pay up or STFU.....it' getting boring...

Adebayor said he was close to joining Spurs last January neymar, so I do believe he will go if the wage situation can be sorted out. As for Lennon, all pace no end product, no thanks.

If the loan deal with Ade happens Spurs will pay for the privilege, the money City receive in payment will be used to subsidise Ade's wages so City are not out of pocket.

I think you will fine that only Adebayor is really a spurs targret out of the players u mentioned, certainly not Bellamy or Santa Cruz. Adebayor is a fine player, but the signing of Dzeko certainly put an end to Adebayor's stuttering city career . I can see why Harry is interested in him. But the johnson link is a non-starter. Harry and all the spurs fans rate Lennon very highly although most people who dont watch him week in week out probably think he is one dimensional like Theo Walnut. anyway, we have many wide players i.e Bale , Lennon, Pienaar, Kranjcar etc ( we haven't even gotten rid of bentley and Giovani yet as well). so we are not in for johnson

Johnson's not for sale anyway. Mancini has said he wants him, Johnson has said he wants to stay. What's difficult to understand?

what happened to all the CL money that Spuds got last year? surely there is some still left, and Levy cant have pocketted it all. so why Has 'Arrry not got any money to sign Adebaoyor out right as he will want 1st team football and Spuds can offer him the get out he so clearly wants.......so enough of this ''i cant afford his wages crap''

So people actually beleive the Mtro has credibilty. Why do they have to give it away and even the rubbish daily Mail find buyers. The headline said it was Reknapp's instigation but funnily enough in the article it states "Losing Lennon has never been part of the plan for Spurs manager Harry Redknapp" so Redknapp wants to lose a player he doesn't want to lose?? No story here, just the usual make something up when they haven't got any other story, move along folks, nothing to see her...

Lol nice cheeky article. Very refreshing tbh. But in all truth I can see City now at least will be looking to do some business with Spurs. City have much bigger expectations this year than the last 2 and probly feel we arent a threat to them as our aim would simply be CL qaulification this year. Giving us Ade on loan would mean he could not feature against ur lot ( not that we need him to beat u), but ye both parties would be happy with this deal. As for Lennon and Johnson swap not likely...

Ade will return to Madrid, they paid his entire wages if memory serves me right, and Mourinho loves him for some reason even though he was really average for Madrid (except for, ironically, against Spurs). I watch La Liga and Adebayor missed more sitters than players like Cameron Jerome do for Real.

How many times will Johnson have to say "I'm going ******** nowhere" Before the hacks get tired of these bollox rumours? Funny, but they don't even believe it when Mancini comes out and tells the whole world that Adam Johnson is a big part of his plans. And as for Adebayor - the fact that he's refusing to take a pay cut to play for Spurs would suggest that there's either something wrong with Tottenham or something wrong with Adebayor - or maybe even a bit of both eh?

cameron jerome plays for real madrid? wow that guy really went places, i thought he was at championship club birmingham but hey, madrid don't want adebayor end of, lennon better than johnson so keep him, the reason we won't pay his wages is due to the fact that you over pay players by massive amounts just to get them to sign for your club coz other teams can't compete, oh we will pay you 70k a week at spurs but man city will offer you 200,000k a week, why the hell should we have to pay that amount a week?

Spursman, because the clubs that win things pay their top players them kind of wages, that's why. As for your claim that Real don't want Adebayor, you know that for a fact do you?

lol the clubs that win things, shall we compare our honours? best not hey as don't wanna embarass you, 1 f.a cup and now you are a club that wins things, lets get it right you are a club with no history that got very lucky in the fact that some arab decided he wanted a new toy to play with, you have got nothing through hard work and building you have bought your way to where you are, who else in world football will pay adebayor 170,000 a week? is he worth that much as a player? he earns more than messi for gods sake can you say he ought to be on a higher wage than the worlds best player? i think not.

Statistics show that the most successful clubs are the ones that pay the highest wages. Look to you penny-pinching billionaire owner (sure he must have a few spare quid knocking about in his secret bank accounts in the Bahamas and Cayman Islands). We're nott getting carried away with our 1 FA cup, but I suspect we're going to be a hell of a lot more successful in the coming decade than Tottingham. http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2010/08/16/premier-league-success-is-85-per-cent-determined-by-wage-bill-in-the-nfl-its-14-per-cent-160801/

We cant afford to pay Ade's wages because we have a wage cap , that is because we only spend the money we generate as a club and unlike you, we do not have an owner who simply spends his own money. That was the point spursman was trying to make

And the point I was making that the clubs that pay big wages generally tend to be the most successful. I never said we are a club that wins things but obviously we want to be hence the high wages, simple really Spursman don't you think?

yes, of course clubs that win things pay big wages, thats because they have the best players , you dont need a statistic to prove that, its obvious. We can never pay such wages that you guys pay because we simply dont have such a rich owner and its obvious that City will win trophies in the years to come if the owners keep financing the club the way they do now. What spursman was saying is that Man city as a club could not have afforded to pay these wages if your owners had not bought the club, so you are not able to afford to pay such wages because you are a club used to winning things but simply because you happen to have a extremely wealthy owner. So the fact that we cant match the wages you pay doesn't mean we are a small club or that we have no ambition, we just cant afford it because we are one of the very few clubs along with the likes of Arsenal who are trying to play fair and spend what we generate in funds. But obviously you will be way more successful than us in the near future because you are taking a short cut

I would be happy for ade and johnson to come to spurs. I rate johnson more than lennon. Lennon hasn't improved and goes missing in games. He runs then passes backwards. Johnson on the other hand mix's it up and would fit in to the squad. The stats last year show this, Johnson was a bit part sub but still more assists and 8 goals.

Can't believe I am wasting my time here reading this garbage. Unsurprisingly Citeh fans are enjoying having something to cheer about after 35 years of Uni_ed bringing joy to the hearts of Mancs everywhere. Now tripping up over oil money they have a chance to shout, at last a team with more money than the West London Chavs. It makes a change - seriously why did they ever agree to a contract to sign Ade for 170,000/week its insane - and Daniel Levy quite rightly will not allow the same insanity to apply to contrats at WHL
