Dzeko's Star Is Rising

Since his City debut in January Edin Dzeko has quietly chalked up 15 League and Cup starts scoring 8 goals. The signs are that the big man is becoming a key player...

The giant 25 year old Bosnian international looks sharper and fitter this season and confidence is clearly flooding through him bolstered by goals against the rags at Wembley and Swansea at The Etihad. He's holding the ball up tremendously well and his impressive workrate is likely to reap more rewards if he can maintain it.

He looks to be at his best with another striker playing off him and it's evident Dzeko is in bouyant mood having vowed last month to prove himself to City's fans:

'This year I feel fit and I feel very good - I feel much better than last season. I want to improve in every game, but I have started the season well. I try to do my best in every game to help the team.'

Once again we have another young City international talking up the team ethic:

'Every good player is welcome to our team as we want to win titles.'

Roberto Mancini has worked hard to instill that mentality into his young squad and it's a refreshing aspect for City fans in 2011 who had become sick to the back teeth of the likes of Tevez, Adebayor, Santa Cruz and numerous other off message players droaning on about their aspirations which invariably centred solely upon themselves.

All power to you Edin.

Not having it. Every rag I've spoken to has told me he's sheite, so therefore he must be sheite, seeing as the rags know EVERYTHING there is to know about football, and the rest of us mortals are just left to attend games in person. Hell, Dzeko isn't even as good as Berbatov. Probably. PMSL.

A proper old school number 9. Feed the Dzek and he will score.

What Edin needed was a pre-season plus a set of tactics worked around his strengths so that he wasn't a b-lister to Tevez. He looks good to me and when he has Aguero alongside him he will be in his element. Aguero doesn't look frightened to set up team mates whereas Tevez often shoots at goal when other are better positioned. That said he still scored a shed load of goals for us. And as far as Stretford are concerned, they have no depth to their forwards. If Rooney gets injured they've had it. Who would you rather have? Berbatov, Hernandes, Rooney and Welbeck or Dzeko Balotelli Tevez and Aguero? The rags might prefer Rooney but they would perm any 3 from our 4 to replace theirs. With that goalie they're gonna need to get plenty of goals.

Your comparison of your strikers with United's is right and there is no doubt you have the best set of strikers in the PL collectively. Why should that be a surprise considering the amounts spent on them though? City have by far the highest wage bill in the league and the biggest transfer budget as well. Statistics show a directly proportional relationship between those factors and winning the league. City are expected to win the league this season going by previous history.

And we WILL win the league. We are out of that Wembley third gear and the momentum is resumed.

Volumes were spoken when our then captain turned his back on new signig Dzeko and threw his hand back at him, as is his want to do. My subjective interpretation: Never should a City captain discourage a plater wearing the blue shirt. Never should any player give the new lad grief. Dzeko has already showed signs he can play better runnng onto a ball. Edin offers the team shape, if he keeps holding he centre channel with disipline. In pre-season and against the jacks Edin has shown he is adapting his game. Edin is a team player

By the way, according to the oracle of wiki, Danny Simpson could not cut the mustard for the place of an ageing and perennially injured Neville G. Or displace the might that was Wes Brown, soon to be shifted Makem way. I know money does not kick a ball, but the 750k valuation from his current ckub versus the 27,000k of Edin's current club suggests not only is the term 'pony' unqualified and disrespectful, it is also a bit ******** rich!

Well said re Simpson Hcc. And on Dzeko's discipline and the fact he offers the team shape you are spot on. This is something that always annoyed me about Tevez and Adebayor before him, they lack team discipline, they play for themselves and this unbalances sides when there is no focal point of the attack.
