Samir Nasri To City Transfer - Developing Story

After disclosing the pending signing yesterday, the popular French newspaper Le Parisien has followed up today with a claim that Nasri's transfer has gone through...

With a headline "Nasri Makes A Fresh Start" that should see camera crews scrambling to The Bridgewater Hospital for second day's stakeout, the French hacks state that the deal was sealed yesterday.

VMC Le Parisien link: 'Nasri prend un nouveau départ'

The story goes that the quicksilver 24 French International known in France as "le petit prince de Marseille" has agreed a 5 year contract at City and The Arsenal have settled for a 26 Million euros fee.

The reason for the delay in confirming the deal is said to be discussions over the structure of payments, the start of the Premier League and the conclusion of Fabregasgate. Nasri will go straight into the City squad for Sunday's game at Bolton.

CREAKING NEWS:

- Sky Sports News have a crew in place at The Etihad Stadium.

- National TV Channel TF1, Paris midday:

"L'histoire d'amour entre Samir Nasri et Arsenal finit mal. Le Français rejoint Manchester City sous les critiques, voire les insultes, des supporters londoniens."

- 12:15 GMT+1 Sky Sports News reports deal not completed but expected sooner rather than later.

- Friday 19Aug: Wenger speaks in glowing terms of Nasri's professionalism, Mancini hopes for deal to be concluded quickly. Nasri goes into Arsenal squad v Liverpool.

- Saturday 20Aug: Sources report £22 million fee agreed by clubs days ago, delay on transfer is due to disagreement over agent's fees.

- Saturday 20 August: Press Association - "Nasri, whose £22million move to City is, according to reports on French TV, said to have broken down - did not applaud the crowd as the teams came out of the tunnel, and was then jeered by some sections of the Emirates Stadium faithful when his name was announced."

Spurs fan here. I hope you go on and win the title and have a great run in the CL. I hold no grudges and look forward to watching you play. I'm sick of the Man U / Chelsea domination. That team you have assembled is suberb and I wish you all the success, except for next week at WHL. Have a number of friends who are city fans, always a pleasure in their company. Best of luck.

Can we just not mention the "N" word again until the transfer is either concluded or not? This whole saga is genuinely boring me to tears, can only imagine how the Arsenal fans must feel having had to go through the whole "will-he-won't-he" think with Fabregas as well! Cheers thenuge, nice to hear anything other than blind hatred towards City nowadays, and I hope Tottenham have a successful season this time out, although not at our expense I hasten to add!

How long before you are called Ex-Arsenal City FC? If i'm not mistaken that's 6(SIX) ex arsenal players you've bought. It is clear who you are trying to emulate and I wish you well but on the pitch is where it all matters. PS. Aguero is class

TFno7, Nasri is probably the only transfer of Arsenal to City that will work out wel for City. Toure, Adebayor havent exactly worked out have they? Adebayor scored 19 goals for the 25 million he was transferred for - an average of 1.3 million quid/ goal! Btw, you are hardly immune to City's riches yourselves. You nearly nearly lost your favourite scouser to City but caved in when you agreed to break your wage cap and pay Shrek whatever astronomical figure Citeh would have - 200,000 pounds/ week was it?

Do you think Nasri will work out then Delta? I'm sceptical. Kolo has worked fairly well imo. I also believe Clichy will work out, not nearly as bad as you gunners make him out to be. Easily one of the top 5 LBs in the league.

Kolo Toure played a huge part in City having the joint meanest defence in the league last season, so you won't hear too many City fans having anything but good things to say about him, his little experimentation with diet pills notwithstanding! Buying him also helped persuade his beast of a brother Yaya to join, so that's a pretty decent result IMO. Sylvinho was decent back up at LB, and although we got him far past his sell-by date, he was a decent free transfer. Stuart Taylor? OK, I'll give you that one, and well, we all know how the Adebayor signing went! I too am a bit sceptical about Nasri, although he is young enough to carry on improving, so time will tell.

Stuart Taylor is good for what he's there for. It's actually 7 Gunnablazing. Paddy Vieira's experience was invaluable to the squad last season.

I think Nasri will work out well for City. He is a very talented player who is very dangerous in the final third. His ability to change direction, run at high speeds with the ball and shoot well from either foot is quite rare. Still young and can improve further. He needs to respect senior professionals who have been there and done that though. Nasri's weakness is his arrogance.

That's my concern Delta his temperament, I've no doubts about his ability, just his inconsistency which I think is attitude related.

Nasri's ball control and ability to retain possession is also straight from the top drawer. What remains to be seen is how he reacts to a disciplinarian boss like Mancini (AW is said to be more indulgent at times). Also how he adapts to your training schedule which from all accounts is more physically challenging than ours and most importantly where he fits into your team formation.

On the training thing, I was surprised to hear Milner's remarks about Clichy being surprised about how physical City are in training. I would have thought it best to play with the same intensity or as close to a normal match situation as possible. Considering Arsenal's tendency to buckle on occasion when it gets physical in a match do you not feel it would be better to have a more physical approach to training?

Bluedub, Arsenal started playing in a different way from 2007 onwards with an emphasis on short passing, possession and movement. The current training regime puts an emphasis on those qualities. Fitness of the players reflected in their work rate and ability to score late goals is good. Previous to 2005 with the likes of Vieira, Petit, Campbell, Pires, Henry etc in the side, the emphais in training was on speed, power and overall skill on the ball - this training regime was much more physical. With Cesc and Nasri moving on, our new training regime depends on the replacements. With the recruitment of wingers like Gervinho, Chamberlain and Miyaichi the early signs are that Arsenal will attempt to use the width of the Ashburton Grove pitch for fast counter attacks.

Dear Footballtaz - youy do realise that our neighbours have a player who takes home over £400k per week don't you? Rooney was recently in court (Being sued by his former agents) when his income was revealed in the official court papers. Quite aside from the £250k per week that manure are paying him, they also give him around £150k per week in image rights. So chuck a stone at your own glass house eh?

Kolo Toure to City not working out is a grand old myth. Before his ban, Kolo had been in good form for a long time, Mancini got him back to something resembling his best as he does with most defenders.

Not sure why you put Toure and Clichy in the mix there Sajit. Toure was excellent for us until he got banned and Clichy is showing good signs and will probably be our preferred left back before Kolarov. Even Ade, in my opinion, had a positive contribution - his last match he scored 3 goals and something must have happened between him and RM for him never to play again...I agree with you that Nasri will be a great addition!
