VMC Forum Man of The Match No.2 versus Bolton

City's big Bosnian berserker Edin Dzeko made it 9 goals in 24 starts and substitute appearances against Bolton. His brilliant form suggests more goals are on the way...

He's the VMC Forum Man of The Match from the Reebok humdinger.

In the style of David Silva, assorted hacks and pundits desperate for the City juggernaut to be stopped have queued up to write off Dzeko since his first appearance 8 months ago. But he's come back this summer sharper, fitter and stronger.

His ability to hold up the ball and play his teammates in and get amongst defenders makes this £27,000,000 signing look a bargain when compared to Liverpool's Andy Carroll and Chelsea's Fernando Torres.

Elsewhere in another scintillating City performance, it was good to see no less than six Englishmen represent The Blues on Sunday. Two of them, Gareth Barry and James Milner both excelled.

The competition for places appears to be bringing out the very best in numerous players going against a deluge of negative opinion thrown City's way in pre-season.

The New VMC Man of The Season Format:

This season VMC will be running our Man of The Season contest using a Formula One style points system run by PhillyCitizhun Productions replacing the accumulated polls won result used at the end of the previous four seasons to define our Maine Man.

This way we'll get further accuracy over who is regularly putting in a shift for the City cause.

Thoroughly deserved, Edin gave a masterclass in how a centre forward should play in this one. His intelligent runs, strength and teamwork brings a lot more balance to our forward play. Keep up the good work Edin.

TBH Dzeko hasn't got much competition in the attacking stakes - only Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli, Silva, Milner, Johnson, Yaya, Barry and shortly Nasri. They're all defensive midfielders doncha know, and it's only natural that a striker like Edin should get the plaudits. :)
