VMC's Some Might Say: To The Power Of Five

VMC's Some Might Say: To The Power Of Five

Difficult for Planet Blue to keep it's feet grounded this week! Post match reaction to the thumping of Tottenham from the key players and The VMC Forum posse...

Roberto Mancini:

'Today, I am disappointed only for the goal that we conceded. We need to pay more attention in these situations...but we played a really good game. Tottenham are a fantastic team...I was always sure that Dzeko would score a lot of goals for us. He always scored for Wolfsburg in everything that he played for. He was perfect, he was incredible.

'Now it is the internationals, and for ten days we can't see all the players. The next game against Wigan will be very hard, because now everybody will expect us to win by four or five!'

David Platt:

'Edin gets in there. His movement is very good, the way he manipulates the football, gets into position, scores dirty goals - scrambled goals. He couldn't get into the game so much last season due to the pace of English football, but the signs were coming...and he has been excellent since pre-season this time around...Debut's are only like that when they are very, very good players like Samir. He's brought confidence with him and you can see the quality he's got.'

Harry Redknapp:

'That was my heaviest defeat. And I'll never be beaten that heavily again. We had as many chances as they had. But we didn't defend well enough...There has been a feeling around the place that the place hasn't been right since the start of pre-season. It has been a bit of a difficult period. We've had a terrible pre-season.

"Once you get a couple of goals down from a good side like that it's really difficult, they are full of quality there's no doubt about that. They've got fantastic forward players, they're going to be difficult for anyone to contain them for 90 minutes.

"They've got players with goals in them - you've only got to look at them."

Samir Nasri:

'This is a tough place to win. I had a good game but the most important thing is we won 5-1 and sent out a signal to other clubs.
This is just start of the season, it's important to keep our confidence, but I'm convinced we have a great team here and can win things.'

Edin Dzeko:

'We made a statement here today. We showed people what we can do. Today was something special for me, to score four goals in the Premier League is fantastic. I think we are getting better and better. I hope we can improve in the next game and try to win every game.'

In The VMC Forum:

BamaEngineer:

'Congrats Lads! A great show!'

fifthcolumnblue:

'Alan Green has just said that he can't see anyone but City for the title! Think I need to go have a lie down.'

PhillyBlueMoon:

'Dzeko's second and fourth goals were utterly sensational. - One, two, three, four, give it to Dzeko and he will score!'

nedkelly:

'Barry was excellent- gets better each Game. Dzeko deserves the motm gong. Roberto Mancini picked a great attacking side and deserves praise. Can't wait for the Napoli game.'

citymantop:

'I think I'm in dreamland - what a result!'

robinwho?:

'If Modric is worth £30mill then Nasri at £23 mill is the bargain of the season! Long way to go but this sets us up for a great season.'

citizhun:

'I said it at half time, but I'm going to say it again. WOW!'

Difficult indeed to keep our feet on the ground, but that's what we're goingg to have to do. WHL is never an easy place to go for us, so beating Spurs by such a handsome margin is obviously going to delight a lot of people. But there are another 35 games to go, and we must not forget that SPurs have a lot of injuries at the moment, and the game could have been chaged significantly if donkey-Crouch had put away an easy chance to maek it 1-1. Sterrner tests to come, and lots of games to play, as well as injuries, suspensions etc. We're looking good, but Mancini won't let wins like this go to the teams' heads I'm sure.

Too right he won't Fifth, he's more concerned with the very soft goal we conceded from a set piece again than how well we played. Speaks volumes.
