'If It's Football, It's Vital'

MCFC Release Club Statement On Emailgate

The Sun newspaper's Shaun Custis went to press today publishing allegations regarding an email exchange between City and Nedum Onuoha's mother 11 months ago...

Details of the exchange printed in The Sun which allegedly involve City CEO Garry Cook, Football Administration Officer Brian Marwood and Dr. Anthonia Onuoha suggest that Cook belittled Dr. Onuoha's serious illness in an email meant for Marwood but which was received by Dr. Onuoha in error. Cook denies he sent the email and states that his account was hacked during his absence in South Africa at that time.

Tonight, City have issued the following statement:

Mon 05 Sep 2011, 6:59PM: 'Following allegations made to the football club by Dr Anthonia Onuoha, subsequently reported in today`s media, the Club can confirm that a board led review has been launched into the matter.'

All at VMC wish Dr. Onuoha a full recovery and hope that the matter will be resolved as soon as possible.

Cook is nothing but a slug in a suit (see Kenyon), and he's careless too. Let's see him out of job by the morning, for the good of the sport. If I hacked his email account, I'd have done a better job of discrediting him than that.

Funny that this e-mail exchange, which happened 11 months ago, should only come to light now that Kia Joorabchian has started representing Nedum Onuoha. Stinks of a stitch-up to me, and let's face it, the media know Cook is a soft target, given their previous obsessions with him.

we wish Dr Onuaha a very speedy recovery, and as she was representing her son in a very professional manner, i wish she would tell her son that his choice of agent/manager, leaves a lot to be desired, and maybe he might get more of a chance in a city shirt if he did drop the car salesman, and when his mother is better/cured(hopefully) she can resume her rope as his agent..as for the e-mail scandal this is wrong and IF cook is found guilty he must face the consquences and if this means losing his job so be it, but lets be 100% sure before we go off a story in the Scum.....

Say what you will about his etiquette but Cook cares about the fans more than almost any CEO in football. Read Dan Taylor's op-ed in The Guardian for some examples on how.

Sometimes gets forgotten in amongst the newspaper desks where hacks get repeated tip offs and strong coffeee that Joorabchian is not an officially registered football agent.

The email was sent nearly a year ago. It surfaces now. Joorabchian & Tevez have just had to back down from their latest attempt to excricate themselves from a deal they signed. Joorabchian now has links to Onouha. Joorabchian detests Cook who has been responsible for his reduced influence......... His fingerprints are all over this. Whatever the truth behind the email and the errors of judgement on any number of levels, what really, really grips me is how the media hacks erupt into a feeding frenzy over the slightest smell of blood. I did NOT see this level of vitriol from them over the phone hacking by.....oh, journalists. People in glass houses? We can do without these side shows.

There's also a deafening silence over the scum trying to incite violence v Napoli. W.a.n.k.e.r.s at the MUEN especially guilty of that.

Dan Taylor Grauniad...."On Tuesday Kia Joorabchian, Carlos Tevez's adviser, issued a statement to deny any involvement with Onuoha. There were also suggestions that the relative of a former City player, nursing a grudge against Cook, was prominently involved in the leaking of the story." --- Joorabchian spoke to BBC Sport about Onuoha and the three clubs chasing him on 18th August...

Purely a guess but Ian Wright anyone? Like I said though, purely a guess. Anyone else having a guess?

I'd say you were probably in the right neighbourhood Robson. On another note, the rumours doing the rounds are that Everton wanted Nedum on loan, but only wanted to pay him 30k per week, with City making up the shortfall of 8k per week. When Cook refused to do this, the offending e-mail suddenly found it's way to the media (after 11 months of offending apparently!). Now I don't wish to be mean-spirited, but 30k per week is STILL more than most supporters earn in a year, and for a relatively young player like Nedum to risk spending a year in the reserves and not playing over a few thousand pounds extra smacks of pure greed to me. Nedum Onuoha doesn't exactly emerge from this whole sorry saga smelling of roses, and I find it extremely peculiar that he should suddenly find himself back in the first team fold as a result. I'd certainly like to know more about why the e-mail took 11 months to emerge, and why it suddenly appeared in the Sun when Onuoha didn't get what he want. Wonder if the e-mail was used as a threat (I won't use the 'B' word for fear of going to far) in negotiations over the intervening months?

Still can't understand why no hack is daring to ask why was Joorabchian talking to BBC Sport about Onuoha in August.
