Premier League Football Weekend Betting

Premier League Football - Weekend Betting Preview

All odds are from bwin, where you can also enjoy a free 25 bet.

It's back to the Premier League this weekend after the midweek European games, with the Man Utd v Chelsea clash topping the bill. But mindful of the nine other games being played, bwin.com has put together a betting preview of all the top-flight action taking place on Saturday and Sunday. All odds quoted in the article were correct as of 15:00 on Friday, 16th September but are subject to change.

There is no doubting the big match of the weekend, with Manchester United's clash with Chelsea already looking a key fixture in the race for the title despite coming so early in the season. The Red Devils are 11/10 favourites to finish first for the second year in succession with bwin, while Chelsea's title odds have drifted to 9/2 on the back of the impressive early season form shown by both Manchester clubs. Defeat for the Blues on Sunday could lead many people to view the title race as a two-way fight between United and City, leaving Andre Villas-Boas' men to fight it out for the remaining Champions League spots with Arsenal and Liverpool. This looks like the most likely outcome from the game, with Man Utd odds-on for victory at 4/5. A draw is priced at 5/2 and a Chelsea win at 33/10.

Another tasty clash is Tottenham's home fixture against Liverpool. Spurs won at Anfield when the teams last met in May to take a big step towards Europa League qualification. Manager Harry Redknapp now appears to view involvement in the competition as something of a poisoned chalice - he chose to rest a number of senior players for this week's group stage match against PAOK to give his team the best possible chance of beating the Reds on Sunday. Spurs are improving after a poor start to the season, while Liverpool looked impressive even in defeat in their last match against Stoke. With a Spurs win (33/20) and Liverpool victory (33/20) both at the same price, the best option could be to back these evenly matched teams to fight out a draw at 43/20.

Manchester City are also in action on Sunday and are 53/100 to beat Fulham and secure their fifth consecutive league victory. Given the way the Citizens have despatched Premier League opposition so far this season there looks little value in backing a Fulham win (11/2) or draw (11/4), even at the tempting odds offered. The Lilywhites are still searching for their first three points of the season and having scored just two league goals so far do not look capable of troubling Roberto Mancini's men.

The final match on Sunday sees Sunderland take on Stoke at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats' poor start to the season means they are under to pressure to pick up a win and are priced at 7/5 to do so. Given they're unbeaten at home against Stoke in their last five matches, Sunday could be the day that Sunderland get back to winning ways. Those less convinced can back a draw at 43/20 and Stoke at 39/20.

With no Monday night game, the remaining six matches are on Saturday. Blackburn and Arsenal get the Premier League weekend underway in the 12:45 kick-off at Ewood Park, with the Gunners priced at 83/100 to continue their resurgence with a win over struggling Rovers. A home win is priced at 33/10, with a draw an attractive outside option at 12/5 given Arsenal's record of just three league goals scored in four games.

The other five games see away teams hoping to cause an upset. Wigan are the biggest outsiders, with the Latics priced at 11/2 to beat Everton (53/100) at Goodison Park. Wigan's recent defensive solidity (two clean sheets in four games) makes the draw an attractive price at 11/4. Another team with an impressive defensive record is Newcastle, with three clean sheets recorded in their first four games. Goals could therefore be at a premium at Villa Park, despite Aston Villa being 9/10 to claim all three points. A draw looks a good option at 12/5 with a Magpies victory at 3/1.

Norwich could also escape with something from the Reebok despite being priced at 15/4 to beat Bolton. The Canaries have scored in both of their away games while Bolton are extremely leaky at the back. The Trotters are odds-on for victory at 3/4 with a draw at 49/20.

Finally, West Brom (7/4) will be looking to follow up their 1-0 win over Norwich with success at Swansea, with the Welsh side priced at 31/20 to earn their first ever Premier League win and a draw at 11/5.

And QPR (3/1) will be looking to build on their performance against Newcastle on Monday and beat Wolves at Molineux. However, the Old Gold are 9/10 favourites, with a draw at 47/20.

All odds are from bwin, where you can also enjoy a free 25 bet.
