Robin Van Persie To Be The January Man?

Without a shadow of Sky Blue doubt, Manchester City are going to need a new striker in January and most learned punters reckon that an Arsenal player fits the bill...

Robin Van Persie made his first of currently 243 competitive Arsenal appearances against City in September 2004 coming on as a late substitute in a 0-1 away win at The Etihad Stadium. He scored his debut goal for The Gunners one month later in a Carling League Cup win at the same venue the next month.

The 28 year old Dutch International has witnessed at first hand Arsenal's dramatic nosedive in fortunes throughout 2011 and having seen key players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri call time on repeatedly running down blind alleys on the edge of the box, Van Persie has refused this week to rule out his departure from The Emirates or a move to Manchester:

'I do not know what I will do, I cannot predict the future. But I think the Premiership is still the best league in the world - it gives me everything I want...when I came to Arsenal we immediately beat City. But in recent years much has happened in England.'

Should City move for another international player with Premier League experience who seems open to ideas? - Have your say below this article or in the VMC Forum!

Quality player, but the last thing we need is another massive ego in the dressing room. No doubt T***z will need to be replaced but we should either be looking to promote from our academy ie Bunn, or bringing in a veteran striker that still has something to offer but is willing to accept he won't be a regular starter, perhaps a loan deal would be the best bet to get us through to the summer and then reassess.

Nasty Van Persie is a close personal friend of one Samir Nasri....allegedly really upset when the little prince left.

I was under the impression Aguero was Tevez' replacement. I didn't even think an extra striker was on the cards. If so then it should be an academy player. No doubts.

Van Persie spends too much time in sick bay for me. Don't want us to pay loads of money to secure his future when all he sees is the Carrington Treatment Room ceiling

Well that would be the final nail in Arsenal's coffin if RvP left... go on, buy him!
