Pompey Sniffing around James

Pompey Sniffing around James

In yet another attempt to unsettle a player at City, Harry Redknapp has declared that he is interested in signing England number two, David James.

Following close on the heels of his interest in Sylvain Distin, Redknapp has declared that Pompey are ready to offer City £2 million for James.

'We need another keeper and David is a very good player. He has been England's number one and is proven in The Premiership,' said Redknapp.

'He is someone I would like to bring here.'

Personally I can't see this happening. Neither Hart nor Weaver has the ability to play regularly in the Premiership, although Hart may do so in the future, and there seems little chance that Pearce will allow James to leave under those circumstances.

I think Nicky Weaver is quite capable of succeeding in the number one spot. Now is the ideal time to cash in on James one of the last of KK's big earners.

From a Pompey view point, I'd be surprised if you let him go unless he is on silly wages. Not to sure about the unsettling bit, everybody is at it.
