On fire City centre forward Mario Balotelli continues to blaze a trail in sky blue in what is shaping up to be a big season for the brilliantly talented Italian...
- Not that you'll find many begrudging Match of The Day pundits drooling weekly over his every touch the way they would Wayne Rugney.
Balotelli has joined David Silva, Edin Dzeko and James Milner in a list of 'expensive City flops' who a few coachloads of football hacks pilloried within weeks of their signing for The Blues.
The facts are that Mario has now scored 16 League and Cup goals for City in 35 appearances. A fine record bolstered by 6 goals in his last 5 games.
The 21 year old rag destroyer had this to say to Th'Official site's Chris Bailey today:
'I think this win and this performance (against united) showed everyone that we can be the best...yesterday was one of the best we have ever played together for sure.
'The feeling was great. To win a derby away at Old Trafford is one thing, but to win it 6-1, none of us knew what to say. We were really happy.
'I have to say thank you to our fans. Even when I have had bad moments they have always supported me. They have always sung my name and cheered me. That is important to me. I wanted to say thanks, and scoring two goals for City at Old Trafford was my way of doing that. That was my thank you.'
A City squad that already boasted a strong team spirit arrive at a buzzing Carrington today wearing permanent grins ready to prepare for the Wolves League and Cup double header. God help Big Mick's struggling side if Mario maintains this sizzling form.
