In an interview that will leave many an anti-City brigade hack crestfallen, City and England star James Milner has given an insight into City's continued resurgence...
Jimmy told the crew at citytv of how he is clearly relishing life as a Citizen:
'We're playing good football. It's exciting to be a part of this team. We're attacking, scoring a lot of goals, but that's based on a solid defence. It starts at the front, defending as a team, but the boys at the back deserve a lot of credit.'
The 25 year old Leeds born midfielder is arguably the City squad's most improved player this year having responded to increased competition for places with some tremendous performances.
'It took me a while to settle in but hopefully I can keep improving and contributing to Manchester City winning football matches. That's all that matters.'
Since joining The Blues 15 months ago from Aston Villa, Milner has chalked up 55 League and Cup appearances including 18 as a substitute and has scored 3 goals.
'In a big team effort...there's obviously squad rotation but players are stepping up when required and it's great to be a part of.
Milner ticks all the right boxes as a pre FIFA financial rules Roberto Mancini signing in that he's a young international hungry for major honours:
'Everyone gets on well...everyone tries to help each other out. Everyone's together. We eat together, leave together and there's banter going on all the time (across the nationalities)...Running for your team-mate and putting in that tackle for your team-mate. It's a massive plus point for the club.'
Ahead of next Saturday's top of the table clash with his former side Newcastle with whom he was with for 4 years, Milner summed up how fortunate he feels he has been throughout his career:
'I have been very fortunate to play with top players at big clubs. You look down the squad list here and it's full of top, top players. To see what some of these guys can do with finishing, touches and link up play it's great to be a part of and hopefully we can achieve something this season.'
Speaking again of the strong camaraderie and togetherness in a competitive City squad, the England man revealed a promising initiative that bodes well for the coming big challenges:
'Sergio Aguero (continuing English lessons against the snidey public advice of Carlos Weasel) came up with the idea that any player not speaking English should be fined!'
