City And England Benefit From Milner Resurgence

He admitted as much himself to th'official site last week. James Milner took time to find his feet in Manchester, but he's flying now...

The vastly experienced 25 year old, like numerous other players has responded brilliantly to the competition for places in a City squad that now holds top quality cover in all positions.

Milner signed from Aston Villa 15 months ago in a cash plus Stephen Ireland deal that is now beginning to look like a serious piece of shrewd business on City's part as Ireland's career continues it's tragic downward spiral.

Ireland has featured in 8 Villa games this season whereas Milner has turned out 16 times for City so far this season and played in 4 England games. Arguably, he is getting better with every game.

Despite City's second competitive defeat of the season coming in Italy this week, the big engined Yorkshireman told Sky he is determined to get right back on track at Anfield on Sunday:

'We're a strong group of players, mentally...we still have confidence in ourselves. You have to deal with disappointments, move on from them and make sure you learn from your mistakes. That makes you a stronger and better team.

'It is a learning curve for us. We have to make sure we bounce back and learn from it...We've got some big games coming up and it's going to be massive on Sunday...we're straight back at it and hopefully we can bounce back with a victory.'

Milner is at last looking like the player he was when he was at Villa, which has to be good for City and for England.

He's looking twice the player he ws at Villa.

Class act.

James Milner is rapidly making himself virtually undroppable.
fifthcolumnblue
He has definitely moved up a level even from what he was at Villa, he has outshone nearly everyone in our team besides Silva lately. Has to be a stonewall choice for Capello.
StuMCFC
Quality, but he was made in Leeds

Must say he has suprised me this season and he keeps improving. He can even drop in at right back as well.
johnkelv
slow predictable and over rated

Love Milner....my favorite player. Great professional. I'm not bitter about him all leaving us...can you blame him? Money aside, you're challenging for everything and we could have never offered him what you are. Every man has to do what's best for himself sometimes and I'm glad Jimmy's gamble by switching to your lot has paid off. He strikes me as the kind of bloke who's in bed by 9pm because he wants to be as good as he can be.
