Sol to join City?

Reports last night on radio 5 live claim that City have made a late bid to sign England international, Sol Campbell.

Campbell was expected to sign for Portsmouth after completing a medical for the South coast side. However City are now rumoured to have got involved in the bidding and Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, fully expects Campbell to turn down Pompey for a move to Eastlands.

With many City supporters, according to a poll on this site, happy to see the club cash in on Sylvain Distin as he stalls on a new contract, it may well be the club are ready to let Distin go and see Campbell as an ideal replacement.

A fully fit and motivated Campbell would be an asset to City but whether Sol can reach the levels he once delivered is open to debate. Still, it would be a high profile signing and one that most blues would welcome.

Sol would be an excellent signing especially as he is trying to force his way back into the England set up.
