VMC Forum Man of The Season Latest

The games have been coming thick and fast and our VMCers have continued to closely monitor the City squad's performance. Time to check in again with Planet Blue...

As the campaign progresses, patterns of form tend to ebb and flow. As our strikers Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko fall away a little in the standings, Gareth Barry and Sergio Aguero head upwards in the opposite direction. The models of consistency remain Jimmy Milner and David Silva. Silva had a rough patch through Christmas by his high standards, but Milner, the man regarded as a training animal has continued to motor on.

He epitomises what many observers noted during the Manchester cup derby how much leaner and fitter the City squad looked in comparison to Sir Alex Ferguson's fortunate misfits.

One factor of note is that Aguero, who led the line alone with absolute relish on Sunday is running into top fitness and form with perfect timing. He has now chalked up 17 goals in 27 League and Cup appearances (6 as sub) for City and in his current mood, few would bet against him hitting 30 goals by the end of April.

Kun's recent groin injury was carefully watched at City and underlined Roberto Mancini's absolute refusal to field players unless they are fully fit. This is in stark contrast to Mark 'Cortisone' Hughes' tenure as City gaffer.

The VMC Man of The Season Format 2011-2012:

This season VMC is running our Man of The Season contest using a Formula One style points system run by PhillyCitizhun Productions replacing the accumulated polls won result used at the end of the previous four seasons to define our Maine Man. This way we are getting greater accuracy over who is regularly putting in a shift for the City cause.
