Distin downgrades as offer Accepted

mcfc.co.uk, the official Manchester City website, is reporting that City have accepted an offer of £4.5 million for Sylvain Distin.

Distin, who is out of contract next summer, has been holding out on agreeing a new deal with the blues in the hope that a big club would move in for him. However, with the new season almost upon us, it seems he has had to settle for boro as the big boys show no interest.

In my opinion £4.5 million represents good value for a player in the last year of his contract and I don't blame the board for accepting. However it would be nice if the manager saw some of this money for a change and the club moved forward instead of selling its best assets and replacing them with Bosmans that no-one but City want.

Although he's arguably been City's most consistent player over the last 3 seasons, it's probably time for City to take the money and run. Hopefully though he'll see sense and stay at City..... who in thier right mind wants to end up at 'Boro ??

I certainly don't think it is case of taking Bosmans that nobody else wants more a case of players coming to a club knowing that they will have the chance of regular first team football rather than sat on the bench at the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Psycho should be congratulated on the astute sigings he has made and the selling of James and Distin.

I think this is a step back. We have made some fantastic signings this pre season, but we shouldnt be letting players like Distin want to leave. We not need to act quickly to sign a centre half, beacuse a half fit Richard Dunne, and Danny Mills / Stephen Jordan partnership is hardly solid. Has anyone heard any transfer gossip about us signing anyone?

Hey BLUERICK don't forget about Richards, Onhoua, Trebelsi and Matt Mills.

If anyone I would play Richards in there with Dunne. Richards looked outstanding for 85mins last night for the Eng U21 until his error, but he will learn from that. Hes got bags of potential

Robert Huth will replace Distin if he leaves.
