'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Squad Continue To Talk Up Positive Tevez Impact

City and England's Micah Richards is the latest Blue to declare that the return from self imposed exile of Carlos Tevez could yet bolster City's continuing title charge...

Responses to Tevez's global apology for all his subterfuge and deviousness have been generally mixed across Planet Blue yet the majority have been laced with complete mistrust.

Not so a number of key squad players suggesting that The Citizens, who have maintained top of the league for four months with three strikers have received a timely shot in the arm by suddenly obtaining a fourth. Richards:

'It's a mixed feeling really for the fans, but for me as a player I'm glad to have him back because he's an outstanding player. He was our captain and leader, not only on the ball but off the ball as well, working hard, closing people down...He was a real nightmare to play against and to have that back in our team would be a boost for us.

'He's got something that maybe the other strikers don't have. Not in terms of ability but just knowing what the Premier League is like.'

David 'Merlin' Silva, following praises sung by the likes of Samir Nasri echoed Micah's belief:

'...It is very important to have those four great strikers with us. It makes it easier for the people playing behind them. We all know they are great players and it could be an important factor to help us win the title race.

'Carlos has shown before he has great character and determination, and for someone like him it would be easier to get into form than for others. Carlos is a great player, and if he is physically fit he would be a very good player to have.'

Tevez is back in full training with the City squad and is strongly rumoured to be in with a shout of making the City bench against Blackburn Rovers.

Your Comments

Given the fact that comments from the players are vetted by the club, I'm worried that they are on a charm offensive to pave the way for Tevez's return. I don't care about his talent, work-rate or anything else. After the way he has behaved, I do not want him anywhere near our team. We've done okay without the nasty little man, and will continue to do so. Even if it were proved to me that City could not win the title without him, I would still feel the same. There is such a thing as integrity; apart from in football, it would seem.

I think the club is talking him up so that, if he returns, he doesn't pull a Robinho and sulks around on the pitch.

Freck me this i funny, the creep has *****ed on you club more so than any other player, and now he is on his way back to the first team, wauv thats man management for you. Well done Mankini, you sure showed him. PSML
nordkap
I'm sorry, nordkap, were you attempting to post something? I can't read anything that's there as it's wildly incoherent and not even close to being spelled correctly.

Nah, the club broke Tevez and forced him to submit and come back. £10million in wages and bonuses taken from him - check. Attempt between he, agent, and Milan boss to orchestrate transfer in January foiled - check. Refusal to loan him back to South America - check. And back he comes on hands and knees. Quite the opposite of when Shrek Rooney made a farce out of your club little more than a year ago until the club buckled with a double-your-money offer, knowing that they are nothing without him and proving that a player is bigger than your club.
StuMCFC
Ironic really, that someone who absolutely loathed Wayne R***ey and the utter humiliation he heaped upon Stretford's finest should have anything whatsoever to say about Carlos Tevez. Well done nerdkrap, you've yet again demonstrated your utter cluelessness.

Well said, Stu and fifth.
