Tévez Takes To The Field In a City Shirt Again

Few would have ever have imagined it possible but Carlos Tévez played football in the sky blue shirt today for the first time in close to five months...

Behind closed doors at Carrington this afternoon, Preston North End beat City 3-1 in a reserves league cup tie. Luca Scapuzzi netting City's goal.

Tévez played the first half before being replaced by Jordi Hiwula with the score 0-0.

The erstwhile on strike striker remains on course to make the City squad that takes on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium in 10 days time.

Hope they burned the shirt the weasel wore after the match, as it's permanetly soiled.
Well, no bitterness there FCB lol
As we lost this game he is allready bringing us bad luck.
Apparently the Preston players made a few "robust" challenges on him! What the hell, if players in the prem want to do that, maybe he might win us a few free kicks and penalties (If he actually ever plays in a competitive match!)
If he ever plays in a competitive match? Ofcourse he will, only a matter of time. Mancini needs all the resources he has at his disposal as squeaky bum time in the league approaches.
He hasn't needed him so far, so what makes "squeaky bum time" any different?
We will see quite soon wont we Bluedub! When Tevez does take the field will you claim its his body double and not him?
Delta, why are you such a knob? I merely asked you a question. There is no call whatsoever for the rudeness in your response.
Bluedub why are you such a sensitive tool?
No sensitivity here Delta. I'm just trying to figure out why you choose to be so rude in response to a question.
That you take offence to even minor statements of opinion is quite well known to all but your own club's fans Bluedub. Its your perception that I was rude, it was a lighthearted dig nothing more. It is quite clear that if Mancini didn't want Tevez as a backup or insurance policy for the remainder of the season, Tevez wouldnt have been asked to report back to duty. Considering your progress in the Europa league and the 12 remaining games in the league, there is no guarantee that Aguero will feature in all the games. Tevez is the closest thing to Aguero that City has and its only a matter of time he makes an appearance as a substitute in a league game or an away game of the Europa league when work rate and closing down of defenders is required. Therefore, I find your statement that Mancini wont require Tevez at all quite puzzling and misinformed.
My statement? I asked you a question Delta, which you still haven't answered. Here's another one, why would I claim it was T***z' body double? Btw T***z was asked every week since he went AWOL to report for duty and sent an itinerary of his training schedule each week. City have to by FIFA law honour their side of the written contract even if T***z refuses to honour his side. Even if I had made the statement you claim I did how would you deduct from that that I am misinformed?
Bluedub, this is remarkably silly, did you read my full post? You asked me essentially why I thought Mancini would need Tevez and I outlined the reasons why. Now you deny your earlier opinion that Tevez wasnt required by Mancini? this is a real classic.
I never said he wasn't required, I simply asked why is he needed during "squeaky bum time" when he wasn't needed before.
You do realise that your last post contradicts itself? What you are saying is that Tevez is required but not now? That doesn't even make sense.
It doesn't contradict itself. You said we needed him and I simply questioned why you believed we needed him now when we didn't need him before. Do you understand?
Deltaforce, you really could start a fight in an empty room couldn't you?
Not any much more than you can FCB. You are on Bluedub's side however weak his premise or arguement, so you are hardly a good judge in this debate.
BD, when you cool off from this shock of seeing T***z play for you again, ask your close friends to read your last two posts and ask for their honest opinion about the logic you used in the arguement. Dont take my word for it.
Delta, I wasn't shocked to see him play again, when we failed to move him on in January I was fully aware that we may see him return. I haven't once in this conversation claimed that we didn't need T***z for "squeaky bum time" as you put it, despite your bizarre protestations otherwise. City have shown up to now that they did not need T***z to lead the title race, you posted that you believed we need him for the run in. I was simply questioning why you held that belief, that's it mate.
I've no problem with BD's logic, team bias notwithstanding. We have coped admirably well without Tevez thus far this season, and, barring a spate of injuries there is no real need for him now. Personally, I think Tevez is far too much an individualist and detracts from our overall play. The only reason he is currently back with us at the moment is that after a move failed to materialis, he was hemmoraging money by staying in Argentina and had no choice but to return. The most likely scenario is that the club gave him a final ultimatum, ie return or be sued, and he's taken it. All the flannel about Tevez coming back to fire us to the title, etc. blah blah is just that, and I would actually be quite surprised if he does make more than a few brief cameos. Clearly that situation would change if there were injuries to one or more of our strikeforce, but i suspect the sole reason the club wanted him back was to ensure that we receive a decent transfer fee for him in the summer. In short, we don't need Tevez, most of the fans don't want him, and I suspect the club and manager don't really want him either.
FCB, I agree with both of you when I say you dont need Tevez to fire you to the title. Nor am i saying that you fans want him back desperately - evidently not! All one is saying that he will make substitute appearances for the club in competitive games quite soon and before the end of the season. How much impact he will have is something one cant predict, but he will play as an impact sub for sure. That's all.
perhaps he needs a few more games with the eds, say until the end of june.
