Roberto Mancini has selected a settled team for the last few games and the familiarity and togetherness this has generated is clearly benefitting his players...
Gael Clichy is a case in point. Throughout this season's campaigns, Clichy has found himself rotated through the left back role with Aleks Kolarov. Some players can drift in and out of sides at will with no impact upon their performance, but Clichy is the type of player who needs regular games and is not unlike the unfortunate Jimmy Milner and Edin Dzeko in that respect. The difference being that neither Milner nor Dzeko can nail down regular starts as the final countdown continues.
Clichy has been absolutely outstanding for The Citizens in recent games and is tearing into the type of sizzling form that should make him France's first choice left back.
The experienced 26 year old's return to a stable City side has injected consistent pace along the left flank and added more width to a team that has infrequently played to narrowly this season. Some of his tackling and passing have been world class.
The VMC Forum's latest poll which Clichy won by a country mile also confirms that Sergio Aguero is our current player of the season with 3 more games remaining. With 29 goals to his name, the brilliant 23 year old Argentinian hotshot could have scored twice that amount such have been his opportunities. Few would bet against Kun scoring yet again on Blue Monday when the rags come to town...
The VMC Man of The Season Format 2011-2012:
This season VMC is running our Man of The Season contest using a Formula One style points system run by PhillyBlueMoon Productions replacing the accumulated polls won result used at the end of the previous four seasons to define our Maine Man. This way we are getting greater accuracy over who is regularly putting in a shift for the City cause.
