Taggart's Mind Game Last Stand
Plot losing touchline screecher Sir Alex Ferguson, having seen a series of mind control attempts on City fall flat this season has given it one last throw of the dice...
Ahead of the bouyant Blues crucial fixture on Tyneside this Sunday the beleaguered rag supremo chose his press conference moment to talk up a City slip:
'The challenge for City is to win at Newcastle...Newcastle is a very difficult place and they are playing well. After that incredible defeat at Wigan, they galvanised themselves to win at Chelsea and, as everyone knows, winning at Chelsea is very difficult. We have not done it for eight years.'
The knight of the realm who went embarrassingly worldwide mental at Roberto Mancini during his side's 10th defeat of the season droaned:
'They have got two games left. If they win their two games they win the league. People talk about goal difference, but it depends how many they win by. Say they win 3-0 on Sunday, their lead would be 11 and they still have QPR at home...That would be impossible.'
Nevermind Newcastle and Queens Park Rangers. Referees Howard Webb and Chris Foy have been appointed for the Newcastle and Swansea games respectively. Both have a lengthy history of favoring the united cause.
Once again, City are right up against it.
