Mills for Reading ?

There's a report circulating today linking Danny Mills with a move to Premiership new boys, Reading for a fee around £750,000

Mills has had a bit of a chequered time at City and despite a promising start, his performances have often incurred the wrath of supporters.

He had been previously linked with Villa, but that was when David O'Blarney was at the helm. It looks like Martin O'Neil has got other ideas though.

The rise of Micah Richards and Nedum Onuoha plus the arrival of Trabelsi and with Distin now looking like he'll stay, means its hard to see where Mills will fit in this season, unless we have another disatrous run of injuries like we did last year.

Mills is one of City's high earners, so City will be keen for the deal to go through as it will bring in a few more funds, but more importantly it will reduce the overall wage bill.

Good business as it seems, it might come a bit too late in the day for Pearce to use the money to bolster the squad further as the transfer window ends on 31st August.

A part ex with Steve Sidwell would be a good deal

part exchange Mills for Steve Sidwell, part exchange Sibierski for Thomert and personally I'll believe that Pearce is a transfer genius. He'll have managed to reinforce the squad for next to nothing and build us into a team that doesn't look as though it's going to go down and might even be challenging for a cup. It would show ambition on the part of the club and its management / board without costing an arm and a leg. Very smart.
