Champions Announce New Club Executive Role

Champions Announce New Club Executive Role

MCFC's shrewd board have taken their time in further addressing last year's resignation of Garry Cook and have today announced a new role in the club's hierarchy...

The post of Chief Commercial and Operating Officer has been created and the reigns handed to Derby County's American Chief Executive Officer Tom Glick.

A club statement confirmed:

'The post has been created to empower the football club to rapidly realise its ever-increasing commercial opportunities and simultaneously optimally evolve its operations. All members of the commercial and operational teams will report to the new position.'

Glick came to Pride Park in February 2008 with more than two decades of commercial experience in baseball and basketball following the takeover of the Championship club by the US based General Sports and Entertainment group.

He joins a Manchester City run by young and ambitious forty somethings from owner, through chairman to manager.

Glick told th'official site:

'I am very pleased to have been offered this opportunity at Manchester City Football Club. This is an exciting time for all connected with City, and I am looking forward to joining and helping to drive the Club's off-field development on its future journey. I have been impressed by the ambitions and plans set out by the Chairman and Board. I shall use my experiences here in England and in North America to help City build on its recent successes and achieve new milestones in Manchester and around the globe.'

The City juggernaut marches on.
