Mario Takes A 'Stand' But Not On Scott Parker

So if Super Mario is not standing on Scott Parker or having a word from the touchline with Joey Barton, what is he up to this time - Reports Trevor Jacobs...

Italy & Manchester City Ace SUPER Mario isn't going to put up with any racism during the up coming Euro 2012 tournament. The star threatened to take matters into his own hands if anybody threw a banana at him, which previously happened before at the U-21 Championships in 2009.

Mario was quoted as saying:

"I will not accept racism at all. It's unacceptable. If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to jail, because I will kill them...

Let's see what happens at the Euros. I hope it will pass without a problem"

While there's no problem with taking a strong stance against racism, threatening to kill people crosses the line. It will only add more tension to an already sticky situation that has the potential to overshadow the tournament if things get out of hand.

Unfortunately, the people who would consider doing such a despicable act in the first place would likely take Balotelli's comments as a challenge. Instead of convincing individuals not to throw bananas or hurl racial slurs, he simply added more fuel to the fire.

Now every time he walks down the street or onto the pitch, there will be an added concern that an attention-starved individual will do something stupid. After all, provoking a rich athlete into a fight would be mission accomplished for them.

As a concerned City fan, Getting into trouble isn't going to stop racism, so the Italian sensation must keep a level head, If he is to build on his title winning season.

It's incredible the attention that Balottelli comes in for across the world now. Today, in some British papers and news sites, his comments ranked at level pegging with the jailing of Liberia's former president...Back to the main issue and it's a potential powder keg.

At least the lad is making a statement on the issue of racism unlike FIFA & UEFA!

“In the case that Balotelli is a target of racial boos, we will all step out on the pitch from the bench,” Prandelli said in today’s press conference. “We will do something for Mario should that case arise". Great to hear that Mario's got the support of his manager and team mates. I think all black players should row in behind Mario and truly make a stand at Euro 2012 if this problem rears its ugly head. Mario could make a name for himself here. Oh...wait

Italy to win Euros and Balotelli top scorer 80/1...nowt like a bribery scandal to get 'em at it.....get your stake by punting on Belgium at 11/2 to turn us over on Saturday and inject a healthy dose of realism into those who don't follow football all year but plaster their houses with St. George every summer tournament...

Elegantly put! Mario is the apple of my eye so I would rather toss an apple at him....
