Kompany Follows Mancini In Committing To Champions

Manchester City ambassador and captain Vincent Kompany has further cemented the robust belief within The Blues camp by penning a six year contract extension...

In this correspondent's opinion, this is City's second most important signing of the season following the securing of dapper City gaffer Roberto Mancini's shrewd leadership for another five years.

Opportunity knocks for a young manager and his carefully constructed young squad to satisfy their hunger for the game's biggest prizes.

Already assured of club legend status following his much admired multi-language communication and charity supporting skills, the giant Belgian who has pocketed the gasping, sweaty likes of Wayne Rugney repeatedly in the top flight had this to say to th'official site's Chris Bailey as City's tour of China prepares to go up a gear:

'Man City as a project is not just a project of the owners or the people employed by the club...it is also my project.

'...It is good to know that I can be at City for another six years. It is a compliment that the club feels so highly of me...Hopefully in the future I will have a bigger impact than I already have. I am good here. The fans have given me an incredible reception which is one of the main reasons that I signed this new deal. My family is happy and there are so many more trophies to win at this club that is why it makes it so special.'

As we've detailed here previously this summer, from here on consistency will be everything for a Manchester City squad now bolstered by absolute belief in their capabilities following the winning of England's two biggest trophies inside two seasons. With With Mancini and Kompany at the controls, the platform for take off is very much in place.

Kompany - skill, athleticism, class, dignity and gravitas. The complete opposite of anything the rags have ever had or will ever have.
