Toure And Agger At The Crossroads?

Toure And Agger At The Crossroads?

They could go either way. To defensive issues and it's been nailed on since Vincent Kompany's ludicrous suspension last season that The Blues need greater defensive squad depth...

Allegedly City's stealthy transfer approach has already realised repeat approaches to Liverpool for their classy Danish defender Daniel Agger. The player is admired throughout Europe so it would be no surprise if interest from Spain was also factual.

Kolo Toure comes into this equation because he is City's only real clear and present back up for the established central defensive pairing of Joleon Lescott and Vincent Kompany. Alongside Gareth Barry, Toure is The Citizens oldest player and talk of his departure has continued to swirl around SportCity since his suspension last year for taking an illegal substance. However, for his part, in a Sun interview the genial Ivorian reveals that despite talks elsewhere he has his mind set on staying in town:

'I am a City player. I still enjoy it here, you can see that. I love playing at the same club as my brother. But we will see what will happen. I've got one year left on my contract and that's it. I am still at City but you never know the future. For me the most important thing is every day I'm at City I'll give 100 per cent.'

Do you think City should pursue Agger? Should Kolo stay or go? Give us your thoughts both below this article and in the VMC Forum.

City needs to pursue someone for centre back cover. Agger is an easier target because he will probably be more amenable than Skrtl to life as a fringe player for a season. I would prefer to see someone a bit more established but that won't happen with the current form of Kompany and Lescott and we are still in the close-season!!
