'If It's Football, It's Vital'

City's Four Musketeers To Take On Title Defence

Tevez, Aguero, Balotelli and Dzeko. After a positive Euro 2012 for Manchester City representation and a superb pre-season, The Blues go into the new season with a title winning attack...

The Citizens wrapped up a winning summer with the thumping of Limerick last night in which Edin Dzeko, who has bemoaned his recent lack of opportunity scored twice in a 4-0 win.

It then emerged that dapper City gaffer Roberto Mancini reckons that the signing of Arsenal's 29 year old talisman Robin Van Persie isn't going to happen. He told Sky Sports Italia:

'Van Persie? No, I don't think he will come here.'

Opinions have been mixed across Planet Blue over whether or not City actually need the prolific Dutchman's services. Indeed, a recent VMC poll revealed that 89% of City fans didn't believe that signing a striker older than all of the men who blasted The Blues to the title was a must have.

A Van Persie signing would certainly break the mould of previous player purchases under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mansour. Despite being repeatedly accused of ruining football and going berserk in the transfer market, a squad of hungry young internationals has been stealthily assembled. Watching their endeavour, team spirit and will to win fuse under Mancio continues to be something else.

As said earlier, 26 year old Dzeko has voiced his frustration in recent weeks. The Ground Attack of Tevez and Aguero are in fearsome form and he has got a job on to displace them. Yet, unlike the majority of top clubs in England, he has a young manager who has scored goals consistently at the highest level to pay heed to. Get your head down, stick with The Champions and you won't go far wrong, Edin. Mancio:

'...it's pretty unlikely Dzeko will leave. He is right to say it's no fun being on the bench, but when you join a big club then competition is normal.'

Listen and learn Dzeko. Chelsea, YOU are next.

I think it is just a question of which strike partnerships work better, but Dzeko ad Balotelli, is one that wont work. Dzkeo does not like the lone striker role and needs a partner up front. He also needs to stop moning and get scoring

Spot on Buzzer. It's all about options in these big campaigns and many of us on here identified the need for an out and out winger to fire in crosses for Dzeko when Mancio runs with him. Could be has more faith in Johnno than the hacks suggest. That said, I said it at the start of the summer. Should City not recruit, I wouldn't be mithered at all.

A lot of people are panicking due to our lack of recruitment, citing the fact that the rags, Chelsea and Arsenal have all strengthened. But we have four PROVEN premier league attackers as well as a wealth of talent in other positions. The other teams' players will take time to bed in, and there is never a guarantee of success in the PL (yes Eden Hazard, I'm looking at you). TBH, although there are a couple of positions where I'd like to see us strengthen (a good young defender wouldn't go amiss, nor would a winger and a regista), there simply aren't that many players who would A) improve our squad and B) be available for anything less than silly money. I'm not worried.

Me neither. I think it was Ron Pickering who once said "We Are The Champions."

Clearly Roberto Mancini is worried but he's only the manager.
