HH Sheikh Mansour: City Must Retain The Title

His Highness Sheikh Mansour has spoken of the importance of Manchester City securing back to back English Premier League titles...

Upon the occasion of presenting the 'Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Football Cup Championship' trophy to the winning side in Abu Dhabi, the 43 year old City owner briefly outlined his opinion on the coming season to the Al Ittihad newspaper.

His Highness, speaking aside of his role as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs said of City:

'What is important is to preserve the achievement (winning the title) and maintain the good standards of last season. We will support the team with a player, or players. This does not detract from the efficiency and capacity of the current squad of players, with whom the Manager is completely satisfied.'

I think the team needs tweeking, we lack quality in certain areas and I am sure Bob agrees with me.

Squad depth in those key areas certainly an issue. As documented elsewhere on VMC a wingers Plan B would be ideal. Still, it sounds as if we remain ready to bring in a couple of players whilst it looks as if we won't be held to ransom.

All bar the most nieve agree on the need for two world class players to cover for our obvious weakness areas but the problem is whom... as the figures we are quoted are ridiculous.

Kaka can jog on. He's now 30 and just not very good anymore. No doubt his agent is trying to line up a big whopping phat swan song pay off before his impending retirement. Off to the MLS, Shanghai or Anzhi with him, Manchester City don't want or need him.
