Tévez -The Second Coming?

Manchester City's Carlos Tévez has relished his first full pre-season training with Roberto Mancini's squad and fitter than he has been for years, he is in fearsome form...

The renaissence of 'El Apache,' or 'The Nameless One' as he will forever be known in differing points of view around Manchester was encapsulated during one tussle with Chelsea's uncompromising David Luiz in the Community Shield win. Luiz grappled and hassled the City striker to the floor but he kept coming back and got past him. A Robin Van Persie would arguably have stayed down. Mancio has described Tévez as a new signing. An on message Tévez is gold dust and a major factor since his return from exile has been the array of charity and City In The Community appearances the player has made as his rehabilitation has progressed.

The 28 year old Argentinian forward had this to say following his howitzer of a goal against the European Champions:

"I came back here renewed and I am keen to play football again. I showed that today and that's what I want to show this year. The truth is that everything is working out really well. We are looking for a style of play that we are all comfortable with."

Tévez is no longer the big cheese at City and having been wrestled into submission by the City hierarchy over a lengthy period last season appears to have accepted that fact and that a badly advised war with the club is over. He remains a powder keg of course, but when that explosive element is focused into his football, it's a lethal weapon in The Citizens armoury.

Carlos Tévez City Fact File:

Signed July 2009 from independent agency, undisclosed fee.
102 League and Cup appearances (15 as sub), 58 goals.

He looks fitter, meaner and clearly wants to play football

I must say I am very impressed with him. I thought he was a goner but he looks fit and hungry..

According to press reports, Tevez stuck to a rigid training regime when he was away over the summer, and surprised the physios and coaches by coming back a stone lighter than he was allowed to. I'm not one to forgive and forget Tevez's previous acts of treachery easily, but at the moment he is doing all the right things, long may it continue. Is it just coincidence that he's happier and more settled now that his wife and kids are with him in Manchester? As I said, I am not one to forgive easily - but if he carries on in this vein, I might end up having to!

cant fault the guy, Tevez has delivered since May, imo and on Sunday unplayable against the CL winners, hope he carries on in that vein and we will all be happy.
