The Blues have this morning announced another important signing. Ferran Soriano the erstwhile Barcelona Vice-Chair and Chief Executive Officer is The Champions' new CEO...
The former Spanair boss wings in to fill the seat vacated by Garry Cook who had a major say in the club's root and branch transformation from going nowhere to a major footballing force. The club confirmed that Soriano will take up his new post at the start of September and that new Chief Commercial and Operating Officer Tom Glick will be in position from next monday. Th'official site:
'Manchester City Football Club is pleased to announce that Ferran Soriano, former Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Futbol Club Barcelona, has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective from September 1st 2012.
'Ferran has worked for several multinational companies across Europe and America and has more than 20 years of strategic consultancy and executive experience in football, telecommunications, consumer goods and aviation.
'Speaking of the appointment, Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said, "The process of finding a Chief Executive Officer has been deliberate, far reaching and exhaustive. In Ferran we have our preferred candidate. His experience in football and in the wider commercial world make him exceptionally well equipped to lead Manchester City through its continued evolution.'
The City juggernaut rolls on...
