'If It's Football, It's Vital'

VMC's Man of the Season Vol. 1

The 'Greatest Trophy in all the World (according to certain manure fans)' aside, the season started in earnest this past weekend against the newly promoted Southampton Saints. An easy win was expected by many pundits, but seeing as how QPR came to Fortress Etihad and made us work for the title last season I'm sure very few proper City fans expected a walk in the park. In true 'typical City' fashion, a one goal lead quickly became a one goal deficit as the Saints countered and scored after a poor giveaway by newly signed Jack Rodwell. However, in 'new typical City' fashion, our 'mercenaries without heart' stormed back to take the three points and send a message that one title is nice, but two would be much better. Leading that charge, according to VMC's forum participants, was the Frenchman Samir Nasri, gathering a whopping 19 of 21 votes to take the Man of the Match honor. Second place went to Carlos Tevez, who picked up 2 votes. Using the same F1 scoring style as last year, the running total is:

Samir Nasri - 25

Carlos Tevez - 18

Next Sunday sees a tricky test to Anfield to battle the 'rebuilding' Reds. Who will be king of the pitch? Tune in to find out.
