Pearce drops interest in target

Stuart Pearce has decided not to progress any deal with Colombian international midfielder Jairo Patino who had been previously released by Argentinian club, River Plate and who could be signed immediately even though the transfer window is closed until January.

The decision was made before news of Ousmane Dabo's knee injury was reported, but it is unlikely that Pearce will have a change of heart.

Patino had been training with City for the past fortnight, but it is though that any potential deal fell through because of Patino's agents' demands.

Personally, I'm glad about this as I think buying average, largely unknown foreign players is not the best thing for the club and does little for team unity and morale.

This could and should be another opportunity for one of the Academy players to get a chance.

One only has to look at the Hammers to realise that South American players don't always find their feet in the Premiership.
