Don't Punish Barton

Don't Punish Barton

Now that the dust has settled a bit, it's interesting to see that opinion seems to have swung firmly to supporting the view that Joey Barton's bum-baring at Goodison Park was no more than a bit of harmless fun and not the heinous crime a few Everton fans would have us believe.

We asked:

Should Joey Be Disciplined For Mooning ?

No: It was a good crack: 80%

Yes: He made a bum decision: 20%

Hopefully City will just give Joey the mild slap on wrist it deserves and leave it at that.

I suspect the politically correct FA will not adopt such a sensible attitude and will seek to make an example of him.

I hope also that the FA and the Police will investigate the taunting and incitement from a section of the Everton fans with as much vigour as they investigate the complaints against Barton, although I suspect not.

It's interesting that there are now reports of Everton fans coming to the defence of Barton, acknowledging that he was on the receiving end of abuse throughout the game. Let's hope the FA take note of that also.

It's a shame that a few mindless idiots can make such a mountain out of a molehill, in the knowledge that just a simple phone-call to the Police will kick off a formal investigation process - what a complete was of everyones time !

lol, i found it quite funny tbh, the one thing that did my head in was the fact another offside goal was given against us. If it wasnt for our recent spate of bad luck with decisions we would be 5 points clear at the top.

Anyone that complained to the Police about such a trivial thing should get a life! The one thing that did my head in was that another deflected goal robbed us of 3 points! I don't know how Johnson has the cheek to claim it!

Barton's past record will no doubt go against him and the FA will take him to task, whilst at the same time they will probably not do a thing against the Spurs player Zokora for blatant cheating.
