Fowler - no smoke without fire?

Fowler - no smoke without fire?

I must admit that Norwich's denial of an interest in Fowler came out of the blue as far as I'm concerned. I know he's been linked with some clubs, but I hadn't heard Norwich. Hence the reason why conspiracy theorists are now putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.

It is my understanding that Fowler has been offered to Norwich as part of the deal to bring Dean Ashton to Eastlands. It is no secret that Pearce is after signing Ashton after making bids in the summer. With Fowler now finding himself behind Bradley Wright-Phillips in the City pecking order he has been advised that City will listen to offers in the January window. That coupled with Norwich's need for a replacement, should Ashton leave, is the reasoning behind the Fowler/Norwich link. It is uncertain whether any serious negotiation has taken place at this stage but as the title says there's no smoke without fire.
