Manchester City are currently three points behind Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League but a win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 9 December against Sir Alex Ferguson's side will mean, (and before the Christmas fixtures are played) the title race will almost become a two-horse race.
Competition from so-called title contenders is beginning to drift away, for example Chelsea and Arsenal, both of which suffered humiliating defeats at the weekend and so three points against United is a must for Roberto Mancini's men.
