'If It's Football, It's Vital'

VMC's Some Might Say: Blue Moon Rising Again?

Yaya Touré's 27th and Carlos Tévez's 68th City goals respectively saw off Chelsea in style. Post match reaction from The Etihad Stadium...

Roberto Mancini:
'I think for us it is not important to look at the table, just to work like we did today, to improve and then look at the table in one month...I think football is finished when it's finished, in the last minute of the last game.

'We can't think that it's finished with 11 games to go. It's not my mentality or my players' mentality and we need to play like today. Both goals were fantastic.

'I think Joe is the best keeper in England and one of the best in Europe but a goalkeeper like him can do better with the long ball. He could be perfect. It's important to have concentration always.'

Rafa Benitez:
"We did not do well in first half but it was nil-nil. We asked for more character. In the second half, we did well. If you make mistakes you get punished. They are strong. We knew it was tough. But they controlled the midfield. It will be a fight until the end...We are playing too many games, so I managed the squad.

"I have not seen the replay of penalty, but it's a clear chance, so Hart should have, at least, got a yellow card. It was a good penalty but a good save too, so credit to Hart. It was a turning point."

Joe Hart:
'It was sometimes tough but two bits of quality won us the game. We know we have that so as long as we defend well we'll be alright.

'Frank Lampard is a great penalty taker and a bit of a hero of mine. We've spoken a lot about penalties but he's strong-minded. He's not going to be put off by an idiot like me! It was a case of trying to to go the right way and get a strong hand on it.'

Yaya Touré:
'We needed to play very well today. A big, big credit to all our team today. We have 11 games to go and will continue to try to win.'

CITY ON TWATTER:

Vincent Kompany:
'That was a big win today! Great team performance that deserved a victory! #MCFC'

Sergio Aguero:
'I am not mistaken if I say we played one of the best games of the season. This team can do it and it showed today. Come on City!!'
