Reports Link Richards To Liverpool (Again)

If Micah Richards wasn't leaving City before the arrival of Bacary Sagna then he most definitely was leaving after the French defenders arrival on a from Arsenal on a free.

West Ham United were linked with Richards earlier in the week but Liverpool are thought to be long-term admirers of the England international and reports in the Sunday tabloids say that an offer of 7m will be made to City for the 25-year-old.

All due respect to West Ham, and Hull City also credited with an interest, you would imagine that Richards would favour the move to Anfield and the champions league football it would bring next season.

So why would we sell Micah to a top 4 rival. Makes more sense to run his contract out, no?

I can see a lot of clubs being interested in Micah if he is actually available, but don't see the sense in him moving to Liverpool where he will have to fight for the RB slot with Glen Johnson, the man currently keeping him out of the England squad! To my mind, a fully fit Micah Richards is a better player than Johnson, but I can't recall the last time he stayed fit for any great length of time. It would be a terrible wrench to see him leave after so many years at the club, but unfortunately, his contribution over the last two seasons has simply not been great enough to justify a place in the team. If Pablo Zabaleta had been injured this season we'd have struggled to win the title, as Micah is hardly a reliable back up. He was fantastic in our title winning season of 2012, but I think it probably is time for him to move on.
