Kompany Not Looking To Move

With speculation once again rising that Belgium defender Vincent Kompany is a target for often linked Barcelona, the player has admitted that he was close to signing for the Nou Camp outfit prior to his move to us, but said he's happy here and he remains under contract, and basically that's about that.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, our skipper explained.

'I have been close to signing for Barca a few times, there were contacts, but recently, officially, I can assure you that there has been nothing that I know of. I have a contract with Manchester City, I like it there a lot, we have won the Premier League. We have a very serious and attractive project. It is not in my plans to leave the club.'

Since joining us from Hamburg back in 2008, Kompany has grown from strength to strength and become a key and integral part of the success that we have had in recent years, and he did sign a new extended deal not so long back, and with him seeming to be such a genuine character, this denial will be all that many need to shut the door on the speculation and ignore it this summer.
