Guidetti Deal Still On?

Guidetti Deal Still On?

The loan move of striker John Guidetti was not finalised in time for it to be accepted on transfer window deadline day.

With the only remaining talk being about extensions granted to some teams in the Premier League to get deals over the line, even though they weren't fully complete by the 11pm deadline, the Scottish FA have confirmed they will 'aide' Celtic by appealing to Fifa to get the deal ratified even though it wasn't fully completed or (assuming the regulations are identical in Scotland) had reached the stage of an assured move if they had a little more time to iron out the details and prepare the final paperwork.

'We will be contacting Fifa on Celtic's behalf to request an 'exception' in order for the transfer to be concluded.'

I'm not sure what the exact problem is with the loan transfer window opening shortly - I assume it's the same in Scotland but am more than open to being proven wrong - but maybe that will be the basis of the appeal, why waste a week.

The rush of course could be because of Celtic's Europa League commitments but the deadline for registration for that ended yesterday - I'm a little confused.

Guidetti has what it takes to be a big success. It's a great pity he hasn't kicked on at City after that long sickness.
