Well Blues, I nearly choked on my croissants this morning. There I was making my way through the excellent twice weekly France Football magazine (La Bible du Foot) only to find myself staring at the grinning face of Manchester City's alledged midfield holding player Ousmane Dabo caught in a football between the foreheads pose with rag Mikael Silvestre.
The double page spread was basically an arslikhan themed tribute to each other which hardly mentioned Manchester City. Apparantly they are the best of friends and it was Silvestre who showed him around Manchester, not his team mates. Another insight into the hurting but together dressing room spirit Pearce keeps referring to?
Outside of the evident deep affection Dabo has for football in Italy, the mention City did get was over him feeling he has had some bad luck with injury at City and that he has been slowly working his way into the first team post surgery. So that's alright then.
Well, he's been slowly working his way back out again with his continually dire non performances in a sky blue shirt. Dabo's absymal efforts are symptomatic of the malaise that has plagued Manchester City's squad for two seasons. No talk of aims and targets with the Blues. No comment on the situation the club is in. Could he care less?
What he did care about was that no City fan was shocked by him hanging around with Silvestre and that obviously we must have a good opinion of the as far as I am concerned invariably anonymous rag.
I wondered if he's considered that we didn't know, or indeed, couldn't care less either about yet another classic example of how football has become so sanitised. Imagine if Mike Doyle was his captain!
Anyway, we finally got the opportunity to use his photo. We look forward to using it again later this week after he strikes the winning goal against Chelski.
