The 43-year-old FIFA listed ref has officiated 84 domestic, Champions League and World Cup qualification games and in doing so brandished 84 yellow and five red cards.

Multi-millionaire?

When Jonas and his two partners sold a TV company (sports media rights) in which Jonas Eriksson had a 15 % share he became a multimillionaire overnight. His fortune is thought to be in the region of $13m.

Why referee?

Born in Lulea in 1974 the family man currently lives in Sigtuna a small town in Sweden. He continues to referee even though he's a wealthy man purely for the love of the game. Jonas is considered to be one of the more reliable officials and is highly regarded within the refereeing circles.

Sounds as though we have a quality and reliable official.
