Brahim Diaz: Is It Time?
I really want to see Brahim Diaz play more, starting with Monday night's Premier League game against Stoke City.
I appreciate the 18-year-old is not exactly a 'Phil Foden', (how about Phil starting on Monday as well?) but, from the glimpses of class I've seen I believe I have a valid argument to make the case about the lad making Monday's starting XI.
With eight City first team substitute appearances under his belt the Spain U21 international is to my mind ready to make the step-up.
Replacing Ilkay Gundogan just after the hour mark on Wednesday against FC Basel, Brahim oozed machismo - he was a breath of fresh air. His pace, dribbles and all round ability to take on defenders, then make the right pass and the right time ticked all the boxes.
I appreciate 30 midweek Champions League minutes is, on the scale of things not very much but, added together with his other fleeting seven appearances is to my mind enough to make the case about him being promoted.
I could further try and prove my case but a YouTube visit or your recollection / memory should be enough for me to rest my case.
Drop Gundogan (now that is saying something), who is pure class, and allow Brahim to prove a point and to show just what he has at the Bet365 Stadium.
