Overwhelming Support for Sven!

Following on from the widely reported comments attributed to Heidi Pickup, Dave Wallace and the Supporters Trust which were reported as representative of all City supporters, this site ran its own poll to establish what level of support Sven Goran Eriksson could expect from visitors to this site.

The results are overwhelming

Of 203 supporters polled, 80% expressed support for Eriksson. This quite clearly contrasts with the negative press from the reported 70/30 against.

Naturally I won`t claim that this represents all City supporters` opinion, nor would I expect to be quoted as such, but the results correlate favourably with similar polls on manchesteronline and other supporters` sites.

This site has always offered support to the supporters trust and will continue to do so. Speaking personally however, I hope the trust is big enough to withdraw comments attributed to it if they are found to have no substance.

Sven-Goran Eriksson, Manchester City Manager?

Yes - 80%

much ridiculed but he has a great managerial record, just shoudlnt' really have been england manager!
The Fear
but scarily let down by 'the golden generation' ..... I think his qualification record is as good as any and despite my wanting him to leave the Ingerland post I'd have had second thoughts if I knew the answer was McClaren
ronin
Are the clubs' female secretaries getting the fear yet? Watch out the Mr Burnsesque Swedish shagmonsta - hes a comin!!
nikolaijns
Four out of five? Impressive stats!

I just wish he will get his money back, so we can compete with you know who across the road. Start spreading the news, City did it the Thai way. old and corny and not original.
Buzz Lightyear
I understand that Svennis The Menace is the only manager to have won a league and cup double in three countries and you can't do that without scoring goals. Goals! Remember them??!!
Johnny Baguette
thats quite alot of people, i think Sven is a great manager just should not of taken over at England. Although i have sympathy here as that has to be the hardest job in the world
pandapops
What I do not understand is why is Sven hesitating, because he who hesitates does not want the job, or is he just waiting confirmation of the takeover?
Buzz Lightyear
SGE always comes across as business like and shrewd and will not be cheap to employ. I guess there are also a lot of reassurances required so soon into a club takeover. We also have no experience of operating at this level so maybe it comes with the territory. The MUEN is reporting meanwhile that the deal is almost done.
Johnny Baguette
hahahahahaha

Buzz .... think the delays are simply down to negotiations. As JB says the MUEN is claiming an almost done deal. Have thoroughly enjoyed all the vitirol directed at MCFC this weekend. How dare likkle citeh spoil the party and find themselves loaded.

The excitement is building and we are waiting for Svenn to sign but then all the speculation as to who do we want to see sign for city. I simply have not got a clue who, but I know where we need to strengthen, I think SP said that once, but dont thin we need a goalie unless we can get Carson from Liverpool. anyone any ideas, I know Johnny B has a midfielder (left or right footed playmaker or winger JB) in mind.
Buzz Lightyear
Outside of Sainte Etienne's 26 yr old playmaker who operates right centre-right midfield and Daniel Van Buyten alongside The Captain I'm holding back on my wish list Buzz until the new gaffer is in place! I think that a cautious transfer approach is required and the rebuilding should take a season with the right buys. More any day now...!
Johnny Baguette
Well said JB, it is a year of building wisely rather than spash the cash. DVB would be a great buy. Not sure re Owen too many injuries and is 30. Rafa B does not want him and he has had some good buys recently. would love Arteta but we no longer have barton to bargain with. Lots of noise still coming from the papers and bbc re Dr T and the funds. I hope this is sorted soon.
Buzz Lightyear
I think the whole Thai funding saga will rumble on into July and beyond Buzz giving the press a relentless field day. Unfortunately, publicity we could do without but this comes with the road along which the City board chose to take us. The new manager meanwhile, has an enormous challenge in front of him and I for one will be delighted to get back to talking football and squad news and getting behind the City team. We all know the potential is there at City for the club to take off and can only hope the reassurances that the City board accepted will also reach us. The managerial appointment is a massive issue. Were we to see a top international gaffer take the post, then I'd see that as another reason to breathe a little easier.
Johnny Baguette
I think Arsene Wenger will be available shortly ???
alphieblues
don't look at Arsene you new owner may be in goal if the Thai government get hold of him. The bloke can't even lay straight in bed.
alwaysgunner
He's too small to be in goal !!!
alphieblues
I do not think he is too small alphieblues. Arsene is quite tall and would make a good goalie. seems like we stirred up the water darrn sarth, all of a sudden the are afraid of the competition. We need time to build and it will not be a great team overnight, but might have a couple of quid on the carling cup.
