City sign Petrov

City have today made their fourth signing of the summer after beating off competition from Spurs for the signature of Bulgarian international Martin Petrov.

Petrov joins the blues from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid where he appeared 45 times, scoring three goals and providing ten assists.

Petrov is being brought in to fill the problem left wing position.

It is indicitive of the lure of Eriksson that City are able to attract a player of Petrov's quality.

That Tottenham could offer European football, as well as a settled compatriot in Berbatov, and still couldn't beat City to the player's signature speaks volumes.

No doubt money talks boys ...... but when you aint got Euro football to offer money needs to talk. Or should we just roll over and let other clubs dictate our transfer policy? On a happier note for Spurs the feeling up here is that you could be the ones to break the top four with your near neighbours slipping outside of it. You'll need a left winger though :-)

i agree with you Ronin, you do need to splash the cash as you are not looking for pieces in a jigsaw you actually need the whole jigsaw! How are you getting on with disposing of the dead wood??? good signing though, Jol needs to be a bit more agressive in the market to get us that left winger we crave

I hope they're right Michael and it is. I don't want this bloke. The eastern europeans rarely make an impact over here as they come for a pay day (Berbs is the exception and not the rule). I suspect Spurs were never in for the injury prone 28 year old but as usual the agents and papers have nothing better to do that talk about Spurs.
