Sven makes Double Swoop

City have today made moves to strengthen the defence with the club announcing new signings numbers five and six.

Javier Garrido joins the blues from Basque outfit Real Sociedad. The Spanish under 21 International played 81 times for Sociedad, scoring a solitary goal.

Garrido, 22, has cost the blues £1.5 million and will push for a place in the left back position.

Vedran Corluka joins City for an undisclosed fee from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

Corluka, at just 21, has already appeared 9 times for the Croatian national side. He has also played 88 club games, contributing 11 goals.

At 6'4' Corluka can play in both central defence and as a right full back. He also offers much needed height at set pieces.

So the Sven revolution continues apace and it would appear that we will be looking at a very continental looking City side come West Ham.

What has impressed me so far is the way Sven has carried out his business. The club have left the press clueless, with regards signings, which has seen media sources scrambling for information as they are informed only at the offical announcement.

Most of the speculation from the media has been way off track which would suggest the leaks of old have been cleared out of the club which can only be a good thing.

With regards the type of player Sven has recruited we await their debuts with baited breath. He appears to have used his knowledge of European football to recruit some exciting young players who appear hungry to succeed. The mercenaries, so familiar of both the Keegan and Pearce regimes, have been left by the wayside to find some other mug to employ them.

In my opinion the future looks bright. Bring on the season, it promises to be a good one.
